“ They are strong for each other in the areas that they might not be personally. Mickey is strong in ways that Ian has not been strong. Ian is strong in ways that Mickey isn't often strong. They are nicely fitting puzzle pieces.“
shameless A celebration of the profound love that is and will always be #Gallavich. (Warning: The following video contains spoilers from tonight’s episode of#Shameless.)
The love between Ian Gallagher and Mickey Milkovich has been blossoming since season one and we’re way too invested to give it up now. If we’ve seen the end of Gallavich, what hope do we have for true love in the future?! Don’t do this to us, guys!
Searching for great television where gay characters are a focus, not simply around for a laugh or a supportive phone call, can be frustrating. While there has been progress over the past decade, it is still difficult to find a show that really dedicates significant time and care to its gay characters and their stories. Which is why when I find one, I can’t help but shout about it from the rooftops. Shameless has easily cleared that bar since its premiere in 2011, but in the past year the show has taken things to another level, becoming one of the best gay-inclusive shows on television.
Shameless has never really gotten the critical acclaim many of its fans believe it deserves. Airing on a premium cable channel limits its viewership and it’s never broken through as a “water-cooler” show in the way that other premium cable shows like Game of Thrones, Girls, or Homeland have. But everyone that enjoys great LGBT storytelling should be watching Shameless.

TRUE ROMANCE Does love mean never having to say you're sorry for kidnapping your pimp boyfriend's infant son? We survey the bumpy road ahead for Shameless's Mickey and Ian, the wildest (and sweetest) couple on TV. On the most recent episode of Shameless, Mickey (Noel Fisher) accompanies the Gallaghers to retrieve Ian (Cameron Monaghan) after his breakdown. When asked by the arresting officer what his relationship is to Ian, Mickey answers without blinking an eye: “Partner. Lover. Family.” The journey to this moment has not been easy. Ian and Mickey have had their share of obstacles, not the least of which was Mickey’s violent and intensely homophobic father, Terry. For Mickey and Ian, it has always been one step forward, two (maybe three) steps back. But as all “Gallavich” fans can attest, each season has had beautiful moments of growth, even if they were followed by gut-wrenching setbacks. As season five hits its midpoint, let’s take a look back at the most defining moments in Gallavich history.
Yet, unlike Monica, Ian’s partner is someone actually reliable and sober enough to push Ian in the right direction toward help. I realize that the show is partially about the children repeating their parents’ mistakes in some degrees, and Fiona is certainly still on Frank’s path, if not with a bottle of alcohol in her hand. But Ian getting help might actually… help?
Ian and Mickey, Shameless -- OUT.COM Definitely one of the most unconventional relationships on TV, Ian Gallagher (Cameron Monaghan) is in love with local street tough Mickey Milkovich (Noel Fisher), who’s married with a kid. Yet this modern family somehow makes it work. Ian and Mickey’s tumultuous and often violent relationship reaches its tipping point when Mickey comes out to his homophobic father, who starts beating the shit out of him before Ian butts in and head butts the Millovich patriarch. Gallavich, as the Internet lovingly refers to the couple, is not your typical TV couple, but then again neither Ian nor Mickey are your typical TV gays. Their propensity toward violence is one of their most distinguishing and appealing aspects. Call me crazy (and probably mining some long-buried personal issues), but there's something about a head butt that's undeniably hot... [See GIFS in OUT.COM's article]
