Finale theory: what if the black crown is for his-
!!Spoilers for 2x04 and the final trailer!!
In the vision he lifts the crown of morgoth from the rock, but what if he doesn't wear it himself? It's the first time he sees her after calling to her through the rings, now Galadriel is in front of him, eager to eviscerate the darkness he holds. Ready to kill him.
But he's not all darkness and she's not all light. Her alliance with Adar taught her that Sauron is vulnerable too. They are inverted mirrors of each other.
Maybe it's a last ditch effort to get her to his side. Uphold the promise of ruling beside him. Make her his queen.
He places the crown on her head.
Visions engulf her. A queen beautiful and terrible, power oozing from her skin in rivers of silver. Sauron holding her hand, Halbrand's eyes nodding at her encouragingly, he's not afraid of her power. She rests her back on his chest while he caresses her belly. A future. She has touched the darkness.
She takes off the crown and lunges at him with it.

"Nenya, was made of mithril and set with a white stone of adamant. It was also called the Ring of Adamant, the Ring of Water or the White Ring. Nenya's power was preservation, protection, and concealment from evil. It's keeper was Lady Galadriel." S2.E2 ∙ Where the Stars are Strange

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE RINGS OF POWER (2022 - ) Charlie Vickers as Halbrand / Sauron & Sam Hazeldine as Adar Season 2, Episode 1: Elven Kings Under the Sky
I was in your place once. In the eldest of the Elder Days. Thirteen of us were chosen to be blessed of Morgoth's hand, with the promise of power. A new birth. I was led up to a dark and nameless peak. Chained and left. And after what seemed endless thirst and hunger… I saw it. His servant's face. Sauron's face. And it was beautiful. He offered me wine, red as a blood moon. He offered me wine, and on that dark and nameless peak, I drank it. I drank it all.
Charlie Vickers has come a long way from "cosmic connection" to "greater than romance" and I can die peacefully now.
Charlie Vickers on TV Insider: Galadriel & Sauron can't shake their 'cosmic connection' in 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' Season 2. (X)
With all the great stuff from EW I haven't seen this Haladriel part of the interview shared yet!!! 😀 Charlie confirmed that Sauron and Galadriel's relationship will be a major part of the show for the rest of the series!!! I've got the link in the comments and it's an interview with everyone that was in the photoshoot.
After their falling out in the season 1 finale, expect Sauron and Galadriel to stay on opposite sides of the board for now. But they're always on each other's minds.
“Whether they're in close proximity to each other or not, their relationship is going to be a theme throughout the show,” Vickers says. “She symbolizes good and he symbolizes evil.”
Hi!!
So, I have been stalking following your posts related to RoP since quite some time. I hope you don't mind lol.
I would like to know your thoughts on this particular shot from the trailer.
I know it appears like Elrond. It probably may turn out to be Elrond for all we know. But part of me is inclined to think that the trailer was edited on purpose to make us believe it's Elrond but it's actually a certain someone else whose scenes with Galadriel are meant to be a surprise 🤭
There's something so tender about the way those hands are caressing her face and that look in her eyes that makes me think it just can't be her bestie she is looking at.
That's totally fine. LOL 😀 Yeah, I did wonder for a bit if that was Sauron/Halbrand too. Especially since it looks to be Mordor and where Adar has Galadriel at in that picture of them eating. However, I don't think that is Charlie's hand and it does seem to match up with that shot of Elrond in the trailer too and we do know he launches a rescue mission to get her back from Adar. So it makes more sense that's who it is. But will point out we know now we're likely going to see Galadriel and Sauron's ability to talk and see each other mentally so it's possible Elrond wakes her up out of this state and that's what we're seeing in this frame. Who knows though, they could doctor the scene to make it look like Elrond too and the real scene plays in the episode, or maybe she's seeing both of them in this frame. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
Obsessed with the detective work we've put into this, and though I have no more proof to add, here's what I think:
- The material of the sleeve suggests elvish attire
- The hand looks more Charlie's than Robert's, but not conclusively
- Cutting scenes in a way that suggests continuity is a common technique, makes sense if they deployed it hear, ie it's not certain it's Elrond's hand.
- Most importantly, her eyes. She flutters them in sorrow along with something decisively romantic. She looks in pain, but a quiet, heart-wrenching one, that shakes her to her core. Now look at her eye makeup: she's wearing mascara and eyeshadow a lot more prominently than any other scene, that's a choice. It connotes romance.
- Which brings me to my point, romantic -albeit tangled in guilt- feelings are towards either our favourite dark boy Halbrand or... (They may have kept it a secret)... Celeborn. I don't like that option, but it fits the narrative if they reunite in the last episode.
As @deus-sema said, the tenderness is the key and it looks like more than the familiar bond she shares with Elrond.
I hope it's another Haladriel scene, let us see them both deliciously tempted
Great addons here and I can see it playing out that it's Halbrand/Sauron too and/or like I posted that she's seeing him but Elrond's also there before she snaps out of the mental bond. Highly doubt it's Celeborn as we've already had the leakers saying they didn't cast him yet and I think that's true. I don't think we'll even see Celeborn till season 3 at the earliest, and I'm actually leaning more towards Celeborn really did die and will come back when Glorfindel does. But it does seem to suggest this could be another Haladriel scene, especially since it's during Adar's capture of her.
I don't trust the leaks, they played so much with the casting and the "news", I only go by the trailer and cast interviews. I hope Celeborn takes his time to come back, because my Haladriel heart favors it. Plus, I don't know how the arrival of a husband will change Galadriel's personality and I'm afraid to speculate.
Isn't she wearing the white dress when Adar captures her and dines her?
In any case, I hope it's the kind of scene that inspires tens of fanfics.
