“He’s a black hole and a burning sun all at once, the gravitational centre of everyone in the room. All I want is to escape him, but everything about him makes that impossible.” Gal about Ettian.
Oaths of Legacy by Emily Skrutskie is the second instalment of The Bloodright Trilogy. I read the first one, nearly after it came out. It was recommended to me through Tiktok because the main couple is highly inspired by Finn and Poe from Stars Wars. And I loved it. I devoured it. I needed more. But then I finished university and I had the biggest burnout and reader’s block ever.
Before I say anything else, I wanted to share that I have a signed copy of this book? I bought this while I was in Los Ángeles for a concert. It doesn’t say that this is a signed copy nor does it cost more. I guess for once in my life I was lucky to get this copy at that B&N on that day!
This book felt so slow compared to the first one. Mainly because Gal and Ettian were separated 70% of the time. I enjoyed the push and pull when they were together. The complexity of their relationship and how it affects the galaxy is so interesting. But those moments were sporadic. in the acknowledgements, she says that it's her first second book in a series, and I think it shows.
I want to read the thrid book, mainly because I want to know how Ettian and Gal (çand Wen) are going to solve this. But I must say I am not as excited as when I finished the first one.
anyways, ★★★.5/☆☆
