dude, he also kept turning around to wave at us, the poor assholes who waited two hours in line to be seated in the back, just so that we didn’t feel as left out.
he hugged a Muslim student who was getting rather emotional asking him a question about how he planned to fight Islamophobia
and he hugged and personally thanked every student who came up to speak for him
student, I might add, that he brought up to speak so that they could share their experiences
and can i just say, what politician would ask students to speak to other students? is this man not the truest advocate of democracy and free speech and government by the people? he took students, people who were “one of us” and let them introduce him so that that their voices could be heard and of COURSE they would support a man who would do that
and we all know that he was arrested for protesting segregation
this man might not be the greatest politician or speaker, but we value charisma far too much over quality nowadays
we value donald trump’s angry, passionate racist rhetoric over the words of a kind, compassionate old man who has experience and knowledge with policy in Congress simply because he’s a professional who DOESN’T talk shit about other people and cares so genuinely about us, the American citizens, that he wants us to speak through him.
even if you don’t agree with all of the things he’s says, he’s been amazingly receptive to the opinions and stances of people who’ve talked to him
he doesn’t believe in partisan politics and will work with republicans, whereas hillary apparently just wants to fight them (which will probably shut down the government again)
i didn’t agree with everything he had to say, but i was damn well sure that he will hear us loud and clear
