I saw this the other day while playing Hogwarts Mystery and I thought I might share it with you guys :D!
Recently, there was a Time Limited Side Quest focused on Severus, in which Penny Haywood is making a competition of Hogwarts Favourites and that includes the professors. No one, absolutely no one, not even the Slytherins, voted for Severus as his favorite professor, and upon knowing this + Jacob's Sibling trying to look for him and explaining that no one voted for him because of their experience with him, they both agree to spend a day together, in which he shows Jacob's Sibling his tasks as a teacher.
In one of them, he takes Jacob's Sibling to the Potions Ingredients storeroom
Jacob's Sibling tells him that replenishing the storeroom doesn't seem like a big deal, but then he responds that it's not only that
ENG: "This isn't just putting jars on a shelf. The potions storeroom should always be stocked"
ENG: "These ingredients are my teaching tools. Without them, it'll be pure theory"
And after the task, a very interesting information is revealed
ENG: "When the ingredients are running low, it's my duty to replenish them"
ENG: "Some ingredients are easy to gather. Others may involve long and dangerous journeys"
So Severus not only teaches potions class and brew the potions that are used by everyone in the castle (Like Lupin's and Chiara's wolfbane), but he also travels around gathering all the potion ingredients he needs to teach his classes, even if that means he has to go to a different continent to gather them (Like Jewelweed, that he said that grows in the US)
And after the whole day that Jacob's Sibling spent with Snape and seeing how he saved them and Ben from an Acromantula, they shared what they learnt with the rest of the gang
1.- ENG: "Snape doesn't keep the storeroom replenished for himself. It's for the students!"
2.- ENG: "Snape puts himself in danger to replenish the Potions Storeroom"
And I thought it was a very neat fact :D!
Tbh this whole Side Quest is very wholesome and it shows a nice side of Severus that the movies also show but in their own way; That Snape cares a lot, he just doesn't show it with his words or attitude, he shows it with his actions.
So Snape’s “love language” is acts of service… of course it is! Didn’t he devote most of his life to protecting Harry? Everything he did could be linked to “acts of service”!

(Some) Barty stans that hate Snape have just about the dumbest arguments on why they like him, or why he’s actually okay to like but Snape’s not. It’ll literally be “oh at least Barty is loyal, unlike Snape” or “at least Barty wasn’t pretending to be the good guy” or “Barty was a good teacher, unlike Snape”
It’s just so…what? 😭
Loyal? Loyal to who? His master, Voldemort? Do you actually like the fact that he’s a loyal follower to a group of fascists, of terrorists?
And what do you mean Barty wasn’t pretending to be good? He quite literally was, when he was pretending to be Moody to get a child, Harry, murdered!! Then when it didn’t work, he tried killing said child himself!!
Also, Snape himself doesn’t even care if he’s seen as a good guy or not. He honestly doesn’t even want to be seen as a good guy. He just wants to right a wrong, and “expiate his own guilt.”
Also also, the last argument reminds me of that meme:
“I can excuse racism, but I draw the line at animal cruelty”
“You can excuse racism?”
Because what do you mean you can excuse fascists, terrorists, and murderers, but you draw the line at bad teachers? 💀
THIS. THIS LAST BIT IS WHAT GETS TO ME.
Like, sorry but there are worse things than being an unpleasant teacher! The kids aren't gonna be traumatised by one single unpleasant teacher!
And Snape's not even a bad teacher! The kids actually learn from him when they're not Harry and Ron, he teaches well and in depth. Look at how badly Slughorn fucked up. It's easy to be lazy with portions and just have them copy from the books. Snape doesn't do that, he tells them to follow his instructions to the letter on the board so they can make not just good but the best.
He's a good teacher! He's just unpleasant!
And absolutely no one is getting traumatised by him, not like how people act like kids are. Neville is the only one actually afraid of Snape. Everyone else is afraid of what Snape does (specifically taking points, his main form of discipline).
The kids will be fine.
Barty's victims are not
People really overlook how Barty physically beat a child against a stone floor. But noooo, Snape’s such a monster for *checks notes* expecting students to pay attention in a dangerous class.
