Helen George has put to bed rumours of her exit from Call the Midwife, after the season 13 finale threw doubt on her character's return to Poplar for season 14. [...] Since March, there have been plenty of rumours around whether George would remain the series, and when asked the question by virginradio.co.uk, she certainly put those rumours to bed.

"I was always planning to come back," she put it simply.

She continued: "And I guess it's quite a return for Trixie, because she's coming back sans-husband, so that's an interesting twist."

Call the Midwife star Helen George has responded to claims that her co-star Miriam Margolyes could be leaving the long-running BBC series.

Margolyes first joined the Call the Midwife cast in 2018 in the Christmas special but was last seen in the series back in 2021.

So, has she exited the series as Mother Mildred altogether?

Well, speaking to press about the rumours at the National Television Awards (NTAs) last night (Wednesday 11th September), Trixie star George revealed (via DigitalSpy): "I don't know if that's the truth."

"I just think she's not been in it for a while," George said, adding: "I think some of the tabloids might've got the wrong end of the stick."

On the rumours of the comedian's exit, George said: "I literally just heard that 30 seconds ago. I think it's b*****ks [bollocks], to be fair."

RadioTimes.com has reached out to the BBC for comment.

Radio Times posted two articles today regarding the rumors that Helen George and Olly Rix were leaving the show:

RadioTimes.com understands that George's character Trixie will not be exiting at the end of the next season. Following reports that Helen George will be leaving Call the Midwife at the end of the upcoming 13th season, with her character Trixie "deciding to leave", RadioTimes.com understands that this is not the case and she could be sticking around. Rumours of George's departure were first reported by The Sun, with the publication also having claimed that Olly Rix's character Matthew, Trixie's husband, had been written out of the series. However, RadioTimes.com understands that Trixie will not, in fact, be leaving Poplar at the end of the next season, while Rix will be present throughout the entire 13th season and his departure from the series has not yet been confirmed.

After it was reported earlier this year that Olly Rix would be leaving Call the Midwife in season 13, RadioTimes.com now understands that not only will he be in the entirety of the upcoming season, but the door is also being left open for him to return in the future. Rix's character Matthew married Helen George's character Trixie in the finale of season 12, and now it seems that he could still return to the show beyond season 13. It has also recently been reported that Trixie would be leaving at the end of season 13, but RadioTimes.com now understands that this is not the case, and that she could still be sticking around.
