Class was ending in only 5 minutes.
After that ruckus, you were sent back to class with Mingyu. He wasn't there when the ruckus first began because he was in the bathroom, but managed to get there just in time.
You couldn't even focus on the work in front of you. Your eyes kept glancing over at Mingyu, who was surprisingly working hard on his worksheet. You thought about when you asked him for the favor.
“Fine.” Mingyu replied, staring at you right in the eye. “I'll let you live with me, I'm sure I can make an excuse to let you live with me and my family for a few months...”
“But what happens after that?” You asked. Mingyu looked away.
“I'll think about it when it comes.” Mingyu replied. “But what about your family?”
“I think they'd be more than glad to see that I've ran away.”
“What about clothes? You can't wear the same school clothes every day.”
“I have 2 other pairs of clothes in my backpack and 3 pairs in my locker, including...you know, the essentials.”
Mingyu nodded. “Okay, then I have a plan.”
He edged closer to you on the bed, so close that you could feel his warm breath hit your lips.
“When school ends, go back to the classroom after packing your clothes. I'll be there and we'll walk to my house together.”
He leaned back and then put up an ‘OK?’ with his hand and tilted his head. You took in a deep breath and nodded slowly.
It's finally happening. The day you've wished for for so long. The day when you could leave and feel safe. It still felt unreal that you were running away, but the thought made you feel so happy.
You thought back at what the nurse said.
‘Maybe I should, give life another chance.’
The bell rang and immediately, you and Mingyu exchanged looks. He nodded and you quickly packed your things into your backpack. You quickly left your classroom and headed to the gym lockers, packing away all of the clothes you could find into your backpack, making it extremely full.
After you packed all your clothes, you ran back up to the classroom, seeing Mingyu there. The teacher was gone and only Mingyu was there, along with empty desks and cool breeze blowing in through the window. Mingyu was put in charge of closing the windows.
Panting, you walked up to him.
“You're back,” he suddenly took out a large hoodie about his size and handed it to you. “Give me your backpack.”
You didn't know why he wanted it, but you put on the hoodie. You two swapped backpacks and he put on your hood for you, then putting his hands on your shoulders assuringly. “Now just follow me.”
Thankfully, it also began to rain.
You two ran out of the school gate, with his arm around your shoulder and his arm over his head, shielding himself from the rain. You had your hands on the strap of the backpack you were carrying.
While running, you could see the white car that belonged to your family. For the first time, you ran past it, seeing them waiting with umbrellas, but not noticing you just passed them.
Mingyu had made the excuse that you were his friend that he had to work on a project with, but you lived far away and didn't have any way of communication. His parents gladly welcomed you and kicked Mingyu out of his own room so that you could temporarily stay in it.
Mingyu had a sister too, she was kind to you but spent most of her time on other things. Mingyu and you were in his bedroom.
“Make yourself comfortable.” He said with a smile. Your heart was beating way too fast out of nervousness. “Mingyu… why did you decide to help me?”
“Hmm?” he turned to you, looking a bit like a confused puppy.
“Why would you help me when we barely know each other? Aren't you afraid of the consequences you could face? I'm a run away person now. What if they filed a report that I was missing? I still need to go to school too. What about the consequences?”
Mingyu bit his lip slightly then smiled. “I'll deal with them then. It's not like what your family is doing to you is right either. I just want to see you happy even if it's just for a bit. Ever since I saw you, I have never seen a genuine smile on your face.”
You were sitting on his bed and he was sitting on the floor, his back against a wall and his left knee bent in front of him with his left arm resting on it.
“Why do you want to know about me?” You asked, looking at him. He thought for a moment, staring at the ground.
“I'll be honest. I heard your conversation with the nurse and I do want you to give yourself another chance at life. Just try. I want to be your friend, genuinely.”
You took a deep breath after a moment of silence passed.
“Thanks for taking me away.” You looked away from him, but his gaze did not leave you. “They have tortured me all my life. Every day, they forced me to do unbearable things from a young age. They pressured me to do well, perform well, and held me up to high expectations. For some reason, I just couldn't reach those expectations no matter how hard I tried.”
Mingyu's eyes didn't leave you.
“Slowly, I just felt like I wanted to die. I was tired of it. Every day, it was like repeating itself, over and over. I would go to school, go back home to study for hours, get beat at the littlest things, and then cry until dawn.”
Mingyu felt the urge to grab his chest, as he felt his heart slowly break.
“No one ever cared for me. Not anyone. Those fucking teachers didn't ever fucking care. I'm sure they all knew well of my abuse, they knew of me being bullied, yet they didn't care to take action. Even when it was clear that those girls cut my clothes and smashed my head, they did not do anything and blamed me for it. My family did exactly the same. They blamed me for everything!” You raised your voice slightly, but being used to being silenced all the time, you cut your voice short.
You took another deep breath as you felt the anger inside you build, and the tears behind your eyes sting.
“So that day was when I first started cutting. I didn't even feel a goddamn sense of pain. Seeing my own blood made me want to see it even more. I couldn't even think of anything else, all I remember thinking about was ‘ah, so this is how it feels to get a little closer to death.’” You took another deep breath as a tear fell down your cheek. Mingyu was still looking at you. “I just couldn't stop looking at it and I know it may seem crazy, but I just really wanted to die that seeing my own blood looked more like a happy scene than a sad one-”
Suddenly, Mingyu hastily got up and while on his knees, he pulled your body into a hug. He dug his face in your neck. You couldn't recall the last time someone gave you a hug. You felt his warm breath through your clothes. He held you so tightly, but your body didn't know how to react.
“I endured that for 2 more years, with that same routine. Except it was cry in the morning, go to school, come back home, study, get beaten, slit my wrist, then cry again.” His warm embrace made your tears fall even harder. “Then one day, I just wanted to die so bad after those girls stepped on me, kicked me. I thought I would be immune to the pain, but it hurt so bad. When I went home, I got beaten for looking like a mess. Then I just decided to fill the bathtub, and colored it with my bloody wrist, and sat in that cold water, for an hour before deciding to submerge.”
Your voice was too shaky too continue and the tears were falling too much. Mingyu tightened his embrace, his hands were on your back, patting you gently.
“I'll do it.” Mingyu suddenly said, pressing your head onto his shoulder so you could cry comfortably. The tears just wouldn't stop, and finally letting out all that pain felt so relieving. It was like a breath of air after death.
Mingyu patted your back gently, as you cried into his shoulder, clenching his shirt while still wearing his oversized sweater. You could only let out small shrieks of pain while you cried, not the scream you always wanted to let out.
Mingyu tightened his embrace again, reminding you that you were still alive.
“I will do whatever I can to bring you even the slightest amount of joy.”

I've never really made anything that went into this deep kind of topic, but I'm glad made this one, though it's partially based off my experiences.
