Some thoughts about the recent spoiler and BTS images with Jack and the rest of Team Free Will.
- Jack came back from the empty but his eyes (and probably wings) could not be healed by Cas because they are a “god-level injury.” And this will either be resolved by them finding Amara or Jack himself when he’s able to power up a bit. (because they keep bringing up the fact that Jack is one of the most powerful beings in the universe).
- Because of guilt, Jack isn’t able to fix his eyes.
- Jack was blinded but the weight of that is immediately going to be undermined by him being able to “see another way” using his powers. (Or just fixed some way almost immediately.)
- Dean is hallucinating that Jack is following him around with no eyes and is so done at this point he told his own hallucination to put on sunglasses.
- Jack is a zombie of some sort possibly A LA a certain necromancer (Harper).
- Jack isn’t, in fact, eyeless but is controlling his body from the empty so his eyes are just shining black to signify this.
- Like Pandora’s box, an ally demon escaped along with all the evil Chuck let out and they’re possessing Jack’s body…
- Some returned ghost or even monster is puppeting Jack. Or his physical form like a ghoul.
- Jack is a ghost of some sort himself?
- Billie for some reason is puppeting Jack to communicate with TFW?
- Alex is just wearing the glasses to hide what Jack’s eyes look like from the cameras between filming (I think this is unlikely).
- The sunglasses are Jack’s idea of “a disguise”.
- The Empty is puppeting his body in the real world for kicks.
- Jack is just styling.
really quick, can we talk about how grateful i am that the final Big Bad in supernatural seems like it’s not going to be jack? i’ve been absolutely horrified since the beginning of season 14 that season 15 was gonna be about jack kline going on a murder spree and tfw trying to kill him. i’m not gonna say that jack being... y’know... how he currently is is my FAVORITE thing, but i’m actually so glad for the twist. it makes so much more sense and it’s the perfect way to close out the series in my personal opinion.
now, spn writers, let’s not screw this up on this last run. i’m begging y’all.
not to dwell on the season 14 finale too much, but can we talk about how heartbreaking Sam’s religious arc is?
He’s always kept his faith and he’s been known to pray to God through EVERYTHING. After all he’d been through, he always felt comfort in the idea of God, no matter how many times Dean messes with him for it. He finally realizes he knows God, and they work together to defeat the Darkness. God disappears once again. Sam’s faith remains.
Fast forward to 14x20. Chuck finally returns. But he seems different. He wants to kill Jack. He says the only way to do so is by sacrificing your own life. Sam is beginning to question his beliefs, but still, this is God. Surely he had a good reason. He doesn’t agree with it, but there must certainly be a reason. He just hopes he can help them find another way.
Then Chuck finally tells them. He finally reveals that this has all been his little game. That he’s been watching and playing them their whole lives, treating them like puppets and watching them dance. Sam feels lost. He feels sick. How could he? The man he’d prayed to his whole life thought everything he had been through was just a form of sick entertainment? His faith is crushed. That’s why it’s so easy, when he hears Jack’s scream, to grab the gun and turn it on Chuck himself. He doesn’t hesitate. Because he’s lost, and he’s afraid, and he’s just been betrayed by one of the beings he has always looked to for support.
Finding stability in anything in the hunting life is hard, and Sam just lost one of his biggest pieces of that very feeling.
Dumah, a word?
