I just wanna quickly talk about the three different Sams that I feel exist. If you can think of more, please feel free to add on! I love hearing character analysis!

First is just Sam. The man who wanted to be a lawyer. The man who worked his ass off to get into Stanford. The man who can solve any case put to him. The man who will do anything for his family. In fact, the man who will do anything for just about anyone he comes across. Headstrong, smart, capable, and mindful of others. He’s got the nerve and the strength to do anything you put in front of him, as long as he finds it morally sound. He knows how to talk to people, whether they’re angry as all get out or terrified out of their minds, he can bring them some peace because he always knows exactly what to say. That’s Sam.

Then there’s Sammy. Soft little Sammy, the one who probably walks around the bunker in his favorite socks and his hair all messed up. The Sammy who sees children in distress and automatically jumps into action to take them under his wing. The Sammy who got into a prank was with his big brother. The Sammy who enjoys reading Game of Thrones and explaining to Dean the differences between the books and the show. The Sammy who probably, upon hearing that Jack enjoys Star Wars: The Clone Wars, pulled out his stock pile of Star Wars DVDs and insisted that they all have a movie night to take the edge off after a particularly bad hunt. Sammy is the man who can turn on the puppy dog eyes and get anyone anywhere to do anything he wants. Sammy is the one who rushed to the vet with the dog he accidentally hit and ensured that it was properly taken care of. Sammy is the one who sings Night Moves with his big brother as they cruise down old country back roads all through the night.

Then of course, Sam Fucking Winchester. SFW is the one who overpowered Lucifer. SFW is the one who jumped into the cage with the two strongest archangels knowing he would likely be trapped forever. SFW is the one who held open a door that the devil himself was trying to close, just so all the innocent people were able to get out. SFW is the man who hears someone has hurt his family, and he vows instantly that they won’t survive for much longer. SFW is the man who picked up that gun and turned it on God himself, prepared to kill not only the creator of everything, but also himself. SFW is broken, and he’s hurt, and he’s prepared to do absolutely anything to destroy those who have wronged himself or his family. SFW is the man we see when he’s been beaten down, his face coated in a layer of fresh blood, but despite it all, he stands back up. Despite it all, Sam Fucking Winchester plants his feet, readjusts his hold on the blade in his hand, and puffs out his chest in preparation of the next round.

Every version of Sam Winchester is a hero in his own way, and I wish Sam could understand that. But, knowing the writers, that’s not very likely. All we can do is appreciate this wonderful character and believe him to be happy in our own ways, like he deserves to be.

navigating this fandom is like a goddamn minefield, so I’m just gonna go ahead and say this outright in a post:

I love Sam. I love Dean. I love Castiel. I love Jack. I love Jared. I love Jensen. I love Misha. I love Alex. I love the cast. I have negative opinions about some characters and ships, but I will keep them to myself and, if you enjoy those characters/ships, I think that’s lovely. My opinions do not negate your own. You are entitled to enjoy whatever fandom content you wish to enjoy, because that’s what fandom is for. I’m so sick and tired of everyone in the Supernatural fandom attacking each other for enjoying a character or looking up to a cast member or enjoying a ship.

Fandom is all about personal preference. The characters, actors, and ships you stan are your own. You have absolutely no right to police what other people wish to stan, as long as it does not spread a harmful message. Being critical of something on your own blog is perfectly fine, though it likely won’t happen on my blog, but as soon as you cross over into someone else’s post and criticize their own opinions? You should draw the line. If someone loves Cas, let them love Cas. If someone loves the Jack storyline, let them love the Jack storyline. If someone stans John, let them stan John. Because my god, this is FANDOM, and it’s all opinions. Anyways, rant over. Keep it positive. Spread love please. Support each other. SPNFamily forever.
