Finished up four books in the last couple weeks and actively reading three others.

Some reviews if you’ll permit me:

Yellowface: 3/5 ⭐️ not my favorite book, definitely found the main character insufferable and I wanted her to fail from the beginning. But overall not a bad read.

Ten Bridges I’ve Burnt: 4/5 ⭐️ a really interesting poem collection. Deals with life in the south growing up as a gay black man and how that carried forward into adulthood far away from there. Definitely sparked some inspiration for my own poetry.

Sunbringer: 5/5 ⭐️ such an amazing read!!!! The sequel to godkiller, I am in love with this series. Cannot wait for the final book next year! I missed the interactions between the characters cause they were separated through most of the book but wow! So amazing and what an ending!!

Harrow the Ninth: 5/5 ⭐️ definitely the hardest read of the list because I kept getting mad that I was being gaslit the whole time but ultimately a really well done book. I hope the next book in the series will shed more light on what still doesn’t make sense.

Study sessions while sick are not it. Unfortunately I feel well enough to write so thesis proposal it is, featuring a half finished weekly planner and dissertation defense cake! Hopefully I feel 100% soon and can work on my chapters and not just write them up.

Trying to keep my head above water these past few days but I’m doing okay. Looking forward to the weekend where I’ll get to see one of my favorite bands! I also finished Godkiller by Hannah Kaner and that was excellent!! Hopefully more happy things to come in the future.

Waiting for my family to arrive which is fine. Thought they were arriving earlier but I guess now. In other news, I had my first exam in coastal biogeochemical cycles which I think went okay. I’ve pulled out all the books I’ve started but not finished and there’s so many oops! Hopefully the coming weeks can let me finish some.

Enjoying the snow day today! This past week didn’t go as I’d planned but there’s only so much you can do with that. Hopefully I’ll have enough work to do things all week instead of just some days.

In other news I reached a 1600 day streak on duolingo and I’ve started going through the samples and photographing them so I can measure and work with them!

The power keeps flicking on and off so that’s worrisome. Good thing is that it’s bright outside and I have a book to read!

Hopefully the power stays on long enough to keep my appointment at noon.

Busy couple of weeks lately. I finished Stuart Turton’s second book which was really good but I personally prefer his first book. I’ve been trying to not get overwhelmed by everything going on around me with wildfires and tests and whatnot. But it’s kind of come to a head so hopefully I get through this point.

Otherwise, research is going well and I’m excited to be making headway in my thesis!

Exam season has begun!! I’m feeling pretty good about my classes right now. I know I need to work on my community dynamics project and review the lectures for my exam Friday. Hopefully I stay motivated!

Long time no post (oops)! Life’s been hectic but I’ve been progressing in my PhD and taking care of my mental health. Really trying to enjoy the nice weather outside these past few days.

Today I’ve got chem oce and a lunch with a potential new faculty member which will be fun!

Feeling good today! Getting some reading done and it’s perspective students day for my program. Also reached a 1300 day streak on duolingo which is exciting! Long day ahead of me but hopefully it won’t be too bad!

Early morning start today but I’m enjoying it. Hopefully can get everything done I need to this week (and still have time to relax and read). I’m trying to finish two out of the three books in the picture but I need to actually sit down and read.

Finished my first book of the new year!! The Color of Magic was fun and quick witted and I can’t wait to read more by Terry Prachett! Classes start tomorrow so I’m spending my last day and my anniversary reading and having a cute little date night. Hope you’re enjoying January everyone!
