He’s so silly goofy but also so wildly capable at so many things it’s insane!! Like he’s got this childish sense of whimsy but it’s about killing ppl 😭
And he’s sooo layered. The show alludes to this particular trait of his but they never really capitalized on it bc he’s a side character 💔
But what I mean by that is..
He canonically lies. A lot. One could even argue it’s almost compulsive. Whatever. The point is, he is purposefully deceitful in most of his human interactions. And he does it in a really insidious kind of way that’s just so impressive to watch!!
You’ll hear him tell the main characters something and it sounds perfectly plausible and then like entire seasons later you’ll find out that oh that was a lie too.
And BECAUSE of this particular trait of his, I can make his backstory basically whatever I want with the little information I’m given by the show!!
In the show, he confides in Mac that he killed his abusive father (and encourages Mac to do the same lol)
I choose to take this as one of the few bits of truth he weaves into his deception. It makes sense. And he does do this, weave bits of truth into his ever flowing waterfall of lies, this is canon too.
But like, he’ll lie about stupid meaningless things too. He once lied about being deathly allergic to peanuts to Mac but later made a show of snacking on some in front of him. It’s so dumb but it’s really endearing in a very weird way!!!
I think part of it is I see a lot of myself in him too, so I’m kinda projecting a little?? Like we are very different on the surface level but dig a liiittle deeper and you find two verrrry emotionally repressed people who can’t cope with genuine human feeling to save their lives.
I lack emotional regulation and bc of this I cry over most things (sad, frustrated, embarrassed, etc) and I get deadly mad at the smallest things to the point where I fear I’ll become physically violent.
Murdoc doesn’t deal with his own emotions. He lies about his feelings to other people and he manages to do it to himself too. But he has no problem with taking it out via physical violence.
You understand.
Anyways.. we mirror each other in some key ways and that’s part of why we work so well together I think :)))

The community is kinda starting to produce shakey ground, so I understand being sacred about making a mistake. Hell, I'm still worried about making a mistake. Even with my whole "I don't care" attitude, I tend to have. But it's completely understandable if you want to take a step back. Just know that I'll be here for you, and others will be here for you too, amigo. Do what you gotta do.

7. What's your f/o's favorite form of affection? What's yours?
I don't know about his favorite but Murdoc is definitely a touchy physical guy, once he gets over his issues with physical contact that isn't violent. I think he really, really likes to just come up behind Emmett and wrap his arms around them, putting his head down on to their shoulder and just. staying there lol
Emmett's favorite form of affection is surprisingly, also probably physical affection! Once they get comfortable enough to be physically affectionate with Murdoc, oh boy, well, its all over/j
Despite their general touch aversion with regards to most people, they are also incredibly touch starved and kinda eat up any and all physical affection Murdoc offers them.
This overlap in favored form of affection for the both of them results in a LOT of hugging and hand holding and just a general need to be in close proximity to each other at all times.
BONUS: interestingly enough, neither of them are suuuper big on kissing! Murdoc was Emmett's first real kiss on the lips encounter and while they don't mind kissing Murdoc, they much prefer other physical affection from him. Murdoc for his part is apathetic to the idea of kissing so he is perfectly fine with indulging Emmett's need for alternative physical affection <33

Murdoc's is probably something coffee based, but with copious amounts of sugar and milk! People assume he likes his coffee black (like his soul) and he lets the assumption pass (he's got an image to maintain after all!) but in reality, while he does like the flavor of coffee, he much prefers it tempered with some sort of sweetness!
Emmett usually gets a chai latte and if not that, then usually some other type of tea! Also a pastry of some sort because he's a sucker for sweets!!
They gave you a gift!! What is it?
Murdoc is VERY much a gift giver. He's never been so good at expressing affection verbally but he shows he cares in other ways, one of which is giving gifts! The stupidly large amounts of money he made (and retained; the Phoenix Foundation higherups made the executive decision to allow Murdoc to retain his illegally gained money as a fund on which to draw when hunting down other world class criminals) as an assassin enable him to give them pretty much whatever they want.
When he was still actively working as a hitman and on the run (prior to the deal with the Phoenix Foundation) he would often bring Emmett back little trinkets and things from wherever he'd visited for his latest job. The most common items he gifted them, seeing as he'd found how much they liked them, were small crystals and semi precious stones! Emmett already had a pretty sizeable collection before meeting Murdoc but it quickly grew to an impressive amount, what with how often he brought them back these gifts!

I don't really flesh most of them out but a few notable AUs rattling around in my brain (and occassionally getting concept art for) include:
'assassin!Emmett AU' aka the 'partners in crime AU', in which, as the name implies, Emmett is also an assassin and they meet Murdoc while trying to take out the same target as him. Chaos ensues.
'royalty x assassin AU', in which, Emmett is a prince (not the sole one or heir to the throne, but royalty nonetheless) and Murdoc is an assassin sent by a rogue faction of the Phoenix kingdom called Codex (reference a villain group in the actual canon of the show) to kill Emmett and several other high ranking members of the royal family and inner circle. They charm Murdoc far too much for him to actually kill them and instead of stabbing them upon trapping them in their own bedroom, he lingers too long trying to explain himself and gets caught and imprisoned. Emmett, far too enamored with the man supposed to kill him, visits Murdoc often in his cell and the two bond…
'soulmate Voice AU' i'm too lazy to explain this one but I think its fun so i'll attach some screenshots of the concepts i came up with awhile ago!
