Short list of songs that are unbelievably Jack x Essie coded in one way or another

Just. This song over all, peak representation of the way that Essie feels kind of tethered to Jack in a way and when she finally comes to the realization that he’s no good for her after the incident in the mental hospital, the way she is ultimately able to move on with her life .. ooughh/pos
- “Hermit the Frog” by MARINA
OH MY GODDD/pos so much abt this one, everything from, “I was the wrong damn girl in the wrong damn room” (Essie was never even supposed to be at that party she met Jack at to begin with) to the recurring mentions of ‘the devil’ with “I can’t help the devil likes to make my heart a double bed and I can’t help he sometimes likes to come and rest his little head” and “I went to the doctors believing the devil had control over me and I was finding it hard to breathe and finding it hard to fight the feeling” OOUUGHHH GOOD SHIT

The only partially requited devotion (Essie was on the giving end and Jack the taking) of having your lover be an idol of religion in your mind; the religious thematic tie in with the satanic themes of canon; the clear light that Jack brought into Esther’s life despite the fact that he was also bringing them down…
