This is what I really like about the recent episodes of Supernatural. In the beginning of the series, we all knew this. Dean didn’t know what he wanted. He had no real dreams or aspirations for himself. He was the perfect soldier his father wanted him to be. The jacket was John’s, the music was John’s, the car was John’s. The job? The obsession with finding Azazel? John’s.

But now, recently, we’ve gotten to see Dean coming to his own. Finding things he likes. Doing things he enjoys. Peeling back the layers and beginning to relish in who he is. He’s a hunter, true. But he’s also Dean Winchester. The guy who likes geeky movies and LARPing with Charlie and drinking with his little brother and playing with big-ass rainbow slinkies and making Batman references and just…being himself. 

Score one for character development.
