Thank god I have a few drawings from today saved up. I took the time earlier today to take down some tasks I've been putting off for the longest. Didn't get them all finished (because of things that were of no fault of my own) but damn do I feel incrementally better. And tomorrow? I'll get even further. On top of that, I've hit yet another emotional slump; so I'm feeling some type of way about my life and my place in the universe & my place in the lives of those I care about. I've been thinking real long and hard about picking up old habits and continuing my journey as a comic artist. Just starting from scratch with completely new ideas and telling a story, or a series of stories that more accurately represents the point that I'm at in my life now: lost. Over these next few days and weeks you guys are gonna see some drawings and ideas that may develop into something bigger, but just know comics are definitely coming. On another major note; I'm going to be doing a beat a day (at least) under the name: WiLLiAMS. I'll most likely pair each beat with a drawing (to keep my IG profile looking like I like it; or at least until I find a cooler way to mix both (maybe animations, but an animation a day is way too much)) I'll figure it out. You know. Life can be REALLY fucking up and down. I know I like to act like I'm wise, but I'm not; I'm an adult- floundering like most of the rest of you. I like to act like I know a lot or like my life is together but boy do I not have either. (A life that's together, or a fucking CLUE as to what I want or where I want to be) If you had asked me about my confidence level 4 months ago, it would've been OFF THE CHARTS. That shit quickly changed. Fast forward to today, I'm in my head a lot; I'm figuring out what being my own person without others around means, and I don't necessarily know I feel about it. I really need to get back into making comics. There's something about storytelling that makes me feel like my words and drawings mean more; and I'm definitely in need of some more meaning in my life rn. Gonna start writing again first before I decide to put anything new out though because I don't just want to make something for the sake of making something; but because my insides are screaming at me to do so. Being honest as an artist, and as a person especially on social media can be very exhausting. Not necessarily because I'm telling you all about how I feel but because it makes me constantly assess how I'm feeling in a moment; in a day, etc. When I was a kid, I made deeply personal art that nobody knows about. Well maybe one person, but all of it was cane from a place of "nobody will ever see this". And then as I started learning about what it means to be an artist in the digital age; my content, and the way that I went about creating art had to follow suit. I really want to get back to the deeply personal work. I'm trying; and it's definitely a lot different (in style and execution) than it was when I was 12, 13, 14- but I want to be able to make something without fear, and post it because it's me. Truly. No More Bad Karma. I guess like 9 times out of 10 I have Earthgang lyrics stuck in my head. I've been listening to Rags, Robots or Royalty at least once a day for the last two months, and I should really finish that animation I started (along with some others I wanted to do just for fun, in my free time). I also should probably take more days to myself (like today). I guess I've sorta slipped into this idea that I should be working EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. And I mean, maybe I should? But somewhere along the lines every day becomes a work day and everything just blurs together, and you start basing your entire life's ideals on how much work you get done in a day and not what's actually happening in a day, and I guess that's probably not the healthiest way to live. Or maybe this is just what actually putting in your 10,000 hours feels like. I don't even fucking know anymore. I just want to change my life with art. I want to change my situation, I want to give myself more freedom, I want to give myself more time. More friends. And is the only way to do that to put my head down and work for a year? Maybe. If it is, ask me where I'm at in 9 months. If it's not, I damn sure hope I get some changes of scenery soon. I'm rambling again, but I don't know how else to be as an artist. If I'm gonna make it huge (like I wholeheartedly feel I am) it'll be being honest, drawing weird shit, and working my ass off slowly, one day at a time.
