My third thesis piece for our graduating exhibition at Jyväskylä art museum.

It's available as a 49x37cm print (19x14,5 inch) at the museum store, and I'll probably do a giveaway on one of the test prints later this spring :)

Another thesis piece for our graduation exhibition at Jyväskylä art museum. I combined hand printed watercolor monotypes with digital drawing&painting.

This piece is called Disco Mare Balticum! (the looters), and it is based on a story I heard about a shipwreck in the Baltic Sea. There had been some looters who had made no effort to cover their tracks. They had tried to steal artefacts most inconvenient (things they could lift on the bottom of the sea, but not on the surface), and left footprints EVERYWHERE. My first mental image of the event was something like this (note the very obvious Saturday Night Fever reference that I'm now making even more obvious by pointing it out :D).

A 49x39 cm (19x15 inches) print is available at the museum store.

One of three thesis pieces (that's quite fun to say) for our graduating artists' exhibition at Jyväskylä art museum. I combined hand printed watercolor monotype with textures found around the school (mostly my studio's stained floor :D) and hand drawn elements into a digital painting. Lots of fun, let me tell you!

The piece is called "Gimme gimme gimme!", and it's available as a 38x39cm (about 15x15 inches) pigment ink print at the museum store.

An illustration I did for a fundraising thing for school. The print of this is size A2, and the quality is absolutely GORGEOUS.

The theme was the relationship between human beings and animals, and everyone was free to do whatever they pleased with the theme. I wanted to go with bears, because the relationship between bears and men is non-confrontational, and very respectful. Bears are very spiritual animals in northern European folklore. I've always kinda considered bears to be my power animal for a number of reasons that involve many long stories :)

A birthday card to my friend who

1) loves 80's music and especially Madonna of all eras (and on skype links me at least one music video or picture or article of her a day :D)

and

2) who gave me the creepiest christmas present ever. A reindeer (?) plushie who has eyes that consume your soul. I swear, from whatever angle you look at it, IT'S ALWAYS STARING. I named him Sauron-Satan. It's like a part of our family now, like the demon child that you love even though you kinda want to get them exorcised. It sounds like an Oompa Loompa or a kazoo with an echo effect, and if I didn't know better I would think that when everyone's asleep, Sauron lays eggs around the house, and they will one day hatch and we will all be consumed by them.

I threatened to draw my friend a card of a creepy Madonna giving him a lap dance, but I thought this was more appropriate. This scene will probably lead to something that, from a distance seen by someone who really needs to get their eye sight checked, might resemble a lap dance. Feast, my little Saurons, feast!

Happy birthday, friend!

I think it's finally safe to share a couple of illustrations from the animatics for season 2 ep 1 of Untitled Web Series about a...uh... well, the (not)Inspector Spacetime webseries :D

This was an awesome project to work on!

The animatic episode is available for Untitled Web series' Kickstarter donors only, I'm afraid. But the kickstarter was succesfully funded, so we'll be seeing more of the Inspector in the future.

Day 6 of the 30 day challenge:

Find an interesting photo (either from the internet or your personal library) and do this cutout-exercise

Time spent: about 1-1,5 hours. Fun had: lots! I instantly got a Miyazaki-vibe from the cutout I got, and I just thought of a story of this lady traveling around the world on a hovercraft taking polaroid pictures of the things she sees, but the pictures end up a bit ruined because she's too impatient to let the pictures develop so she hangs them to dry on direct sunlight.

I also did a step by step tutorial, check it out!

Day 3 of the 30 day challenge:

Go to random character generator like [this] or [this] and draw the character you get

"This lady reminds you of an elusive unicorn. She has round brown eyes. Her fine, straight, yellow hair is neck-length and is worn in an uncomplicated style. She is short and has a wide-hipped build. Her skin is cream-colored. She has nearly nonexistent eyebrows and long-fingered hands. Her wardrobe is no-nonsense, and is mostly red and blue."

I had no idea what an "elusive unicorn" might mean, so I googled, and this is what I found: "a hot bi female seeking a relationship with an existing couple." OK, internet, if you say so :D

Are you ready for 2013? I KNOW I AM, and that's why I wanted to do a quick giveaway for my lovely lovely followers :D.

This giveaway is for one (1) print of the picture above (link to image) size A3 (297 × 420 mm) print on fine-ass gallery quality paper. The one I'm giving away is a test print, the quality's impeccable except for the fact that for some reason the printer ate about 0,5cm from top and bottom of the image. Hence the term "test print" :D.

Come get it off my hands!

Here are the rules:

  • You have until Jan 1st 2013 0:00 to enter (to be fair to all the timezones I will end it in the morning of Jan 1st in my timezone :D)
  • As for entering, you can like & reblog once per day but since it's a 2-day giveaway that gives you 3 entries in total :B
  • A random number generator will choose the winner. I will notify them within a day.
  • Please have your ask box open
  • I will ship internationally.

Good luck guys!

A birthday wish illustration for my grandmother for a small newspaper she reads. Mom added the text later, which kinda terrifies me, because she's one of those people who think that Comic Sans and Curlz are fancy fonts.

I just bought an iPad and got this drawing app called Procreate. I've only been using it a day and I'm already utterly and irrevocably in love with it. It's just so....nifty and awesome and oahXGVUKVDACW! Now I can draw EVERYWHERE.

(I've been doodling this and that all day, but this pic was the first attempt to actually paint something with this app. I tried to draw Korra from memory, and it seemes I got like, NONE of her clothes right. Damn my talent :'D)
