Midnight Museum, episode 3 - Moth of Memories

Well….there was definitely a disturbing amount of moth being consumed in this episode, alright! (from Bright to Bam to Khatna)…but let’s start from the beginning shall we?

At the start of the episode, we see Bam and her police squad essentially being frozen while the artefacts are removed (I initially thought it was Khatna’s doing but it seems we have another player in the mix!)…however one artefact did escaped the removal, the moth of memories.

Aptly named, the moth itself seems to be a neutral artefact but what it does - it consumed blood to repopulate and when being ingested, the person who ingested the moths sees the memories of the last person’s blood that the moths ingested.

Unfortunately, the moth landed on drug-addled, obsessive stalker (who is also named Moth) - played brilliantly in this episode by Bright (and what I truly believe is his best role to date).

Moth can’t get over the fact that his ex-gf, Rin has moved on to a new guy, Zen (played by Joss Way-ar). But urghhhh…Rin can’t seem to find a nice man - Zen is also controlling and we see him sexually assaulting Rin too.

It accumulates to Moth killing Rin and Zen while continuously ingesting moths who in turn were ingesting Rin’s blood 🩸, allowing Moth to basically relived his previously happy memories with Rin.

And while the above is going on, we learn more about Dome and Khatna. I was right that Dome has a special connection with the cursed artefacts, but we also learn that the more he used his power, the higher the chance he is will be cursed himself as he becomes the conduit of said artefacts. And while Khatna can be as grumpy as anything, he clearly cares for Dome (you only need to see him constantly shielding Dome from basically everything in this episode!)

And I was right in saying that Khatna is an immortal (but how, why and what his connection with Dome remains to be seen, although the fact that he has pictures of Dome all over his office is a tad bit stalkish for me 🫣) .

We finished with Khatna managing to burn both Rin (who unfortunately became a manifestation of Moth’s pain and suffering) and Moth…essentially saving Dome, who passed out after being injected by presumably drug)

And I was right! We see Jib again, trying to renegotiate the price of some of the stolen artefacts (hey, his phone has Boum on it??? Why ?? Who is Boum to him?)…but him being a dumbass went and touched a shiny globe crystal thingy in his bag of cursed artefacts, which led to him being consumed by the globe…and prelude to our next episode!

I’ll finish by saying that this series so far continues to intrigue me. It’s creepy and usually not my genre but the mystery surrounding the main duo (and the others of their haphazard squad members - comprising of June, Bam and Triphop) is enough to keep me going! Bring on episode 4 🤘

Wow…just started 3 will be free. So far, I like the vibe! It’s somehow dark and gritty. Definitely a different genre that’s different fromwhat I usually watched!

This is the first drama of Tay Tawan, Mild Lapassalan and Joss Way-ar Sangngern that I watched. And so far, they seem to fit the role nicely!

Update 20/01/23 - completed the whole series in a week! 🫣 can’t believe I actually binge the whole thing. Each character in this drama was carefully curated. They are all in different shades of grey with layers of complexity. But at the heart of it, are 3 lonely souls who finally made a connection with each other, and will hold on to it - it’s a piece of home that they have all been longing for. And while not perfect, they understand each other so well.

Highly recommended for those who like complex characters in a gritty series (and also don’t mind a bit of polyamory)
