Kaz is ultimately more superstitious than he lets on, and he isn’t going to hang around for shit to hit the fan. Noises in the night? Dolls moving on their own? Writing on mirrors? Fuck that. He’s out and gone. Weather it a run or a walk, he’s not sticking around thanks.

I’d had imagined it’d be the same for horror movies too- he’d rather die than admit to a living soul that he can’t stand the things. Especially ghost flicks (I wonder why). But he’s man enough to decide for himself he already has enough trauma and nightmares for his sick mind to work with, it doesn’t need further inspiration to haunt him with.

Inej is a very impulsive fighter, she strikes fast and deadly. If in paranormal happenings she’d stick around and likely survive. Using her common sense and sick combat skills. She might enjoy the occasional horror movie with friends, but I don’t think she’d watch it unprompted.

Nina would do every wrong thing in a paranormal scenario and some how live. She enjoys horror movies if only as a excuse to snuggle up to her fjerdan. If he’d ever watch one.

Mattias knows all the signs of paranormal stuff, and he does all the things to avoid them, salt, chalk, blessed tree water. He’d survive in a paranormal scenario because he believes in them. He doesn’t like horror movies, if only because he turns up his nose to them. For religious reasons, not indulging unholy or sac religious reproductions as part of his beliefs. everyone makes fun of him for this, but he doesn’t budge.

wylan would freeze. He might survive? If only because he just- stayed in one spot and refused to tempt fate. He doesn’t know what’s happening and has zero drive to find out. Wylan might enjoy horror movies himself. Especially ones that are based on real stories or legends.

Jesper would probably die lol. He’d do everything wrong and panic in the worst moments, ‘is this how we die???’ He’d watch horror movies because wylan likes them, and would get the get the piss scared out of him the whole time.

I prefer the idea that jordie was actually the one who implemented the revenge plan, pushing it onto kaz, much like how it manifests in kaz’s trauma in the books.

In headconnon I had imagined jordie had taken on what the ‘mother’ roll would be when he was old enough. That being gathering food from animals (like gathering eggs), tending to the animals (cleaning their environment), and feeding them. As well as laundry, cooking for the family, and care for the little ones (fixing clothes, planning meals, putting together preservatives for the winter)

of course by ‘old enough’ I mean as young as possible to reach that kind of ability, so like 5+. That doesn’t mean he was initially good at it. Far from it. But he was forced into a steep learning curve or else, his little brother , and animals, weren’t receiving the proper care they needed.

this isn’t a knock to their father, he simply didn’t have enough time in the day to do everything. Reasonably he needs help, and in the 1800s a lot of things were still structured around that atomic family life style….

Reference for the roles and what they do is ‘little house on the prairie’ tv show so… with a grain of salt and all that.

In conclusion, Jordie would know how to cook, he’s read several cooking books, been cooking since he was 5 and rather mediocre at it. And yes, he knows that ‘separate the eggs’ means to separate the yolks from the egg whites

Kaz hasn’t gone to school since he was nine and during that time his main source of information was his twelve year old brother. I’d bet there’s some misconceptions and lies that jordie has put in kaz’s head that would have yet to be weeded out. My spin on jordie lives story

Jordie still gets tricked by rollins, hook line and sinker. But instead of just sitting and waiting for the plague to hit, he takes that bank note and P.T. Barnum’s it at another bank. (Taking the worthless note to pull out a loan at a second bank bc second bank doesn’t know it’s worthless). This gives them both enough financial padding to survive the plague, and not a penny more. After that following the narrative in SoC, homeless, barrel brat, mugging other children, scams, and later a piss pot washer for the dregs.

That gift of gab never fades and only gets stronger, jordie has a talent for negotiation, parley, and show biz. This leads him to usually working at the bar in the crow club or as a bouncer. And he generally improves the public opinion of the club itself and by extension Kaz in the gang itself.

Kaz tends to get a sort of kick out of shelling out payment where it’s due, jordie unfortunately doesn’t share this feeling. The gang generally thinks that jordie is too nice to be in the barrel, he doesn’t enjoy the carnage, he avoids conflict where he can, and is really just here to have a good time and support his brother, in kaz’s atrocities and other endeavors.

That being said he’s soft and prepared. Conflict can’t always be avoided so when a fight does roll around he moves to end it as fast as possible, gun, bat, mallet, fists. Usually with a blunt force weapon, to knock down his opponents and not kill. That being said he can be very thorough in educating his opponent on why they shouldn’t ever try him again.

in my head jordie is the bigger (taller,stronger) of the brothers, though this is most likely due to the fact that kaz spent his most vital period if growth (9-14) malnourished.

not to be mistaken though, kaz is still the mastermind in this whole situation

He shares his hand full of memories with Kaz, ripped this right from barley in Onward but I thought it was sweet anyway. True for Barley and jordie, Jordie probably has one more memory of their mother that he doesn’t say… her death.
