yall i cant stop thinking about something that came up in an ask from yesterday. that last scene in cacw (or all of cacw in general)??? is like. the defining moment of sam and steve’s undying love for each other, no matter how you read it. it’s been said in countless interviews that sam is there for steve, that he’d follow him anywhere, that he’s loyal and he believes in steve which is why he’s there. but we never really look at their relationship from steve’s perspective? and civil war really offered that to us.

I have so many feels about Natasha and Natasha/Steve in CACW. Like when Natasha hesitantly agrees that maybe they should sign the accords. Steve looks at her in shock and she says, unable to meet his eyes, haltingly, and with a catch in her voice, that what's most important is that they stay together. As a team. As a family. No matter what they have to do or agree to do to make that happen. This women who 4 years ago said "love is for children." Who two years ago told Steve that she let no one get close to her because "It's a good way not to die." And now all she wants in the world is to keep her found family together. Yes, she was *technically* Team Iron Man but really Team Cap all the way. She worked so hard to gain Steve’s friendship, respect and trust and she cherishes it. She loves that giant star-spangled pain in her ass. The conflict you could see in her body and the pain she showed in every facial expression was one of the best parts of the movie IMO. I mean, the regret and pain in her voice when she tells Tony that "we played this the wrong way" was heartbreaking. Her worst case scenario happened and all that’s left is the pain and anger. The film has a LOT to answer for in terms of some other male/female relationships, but not with Steve and Natasha’s friendship. There’s such a clear and consistent arc of growth and development for them from The Winter Soldier, to Age of Ultron, to Civil War. And I think the scene where they show the results of ALL that development/growth is the scene after the funeral. Steve tells her that he can’t sign the accords and she smiles gently and says, with no anger or judgement, “I Know.” Because they do know each other so well now. Steve asks her what she’s doing there then and she says she didn’t want him to be alone (even though Sam is there and so I don’t know why she says that instead of like ‘I wanted to be here for you’). THEN Steve just steps into her arms and they share an incredibly beautiful moment. Like...can you imagine them doing this 4 years ago? 2 years ago?? LAST YEAR even???
