Okay, so we all know that Poe went around the Resistance base telling everyone about the Handsome Stormtrooper that saved his life – but what about BB-8? Imagine BB-8 coming back to base and promptly telling everyone about the good brave human who saved his Poe. This is Finn he is so lovely, he is the best of all humans, look at him, be nice to him – he’s a little bit slow – doesn’t understand droid at all but he’s a quick learner

And imagine ALL THE DROIDS falling into line, looking after Finn, and Finn is just so nice to them because he remembers what it’s like to be treated like you’re nothing, like you don’t have a personality. And they just adopt him: Finn the best human, they designate him, and R2-D2 – battle-hardened war vet that he is –  teaches him binary but teaches him the bastardised sweary binary that all the older droids speak and BB-8 is innocent and oblivious and C3-PO is scandalised because Finn is going round saying things like fuck me this is hot in this little whistle-beep.

And whenever Finn sits down he’s surrounded by happy young droids who absolutely adore him, and he is just so nice and all the droids go out of their way to do things for him.

And yes. Give me sweet lovely Finn with his droid ducklings.

OMG I NEED THIS ARTED. Just. Finn. Droids. WHAT ARE YOU DOING FINN CAN WE HELP WE’LL JUST WATCH IF YOU DON’T NEED US. FINN IS SLIGHTLY THIRSTY. FIND WATER.

Finn should sue Ben Solo for plagiarism.

I’m gonna be calling out a lot of r/ylos and d/rkpilot fans here because they tend to be the most guilty of this. 1.) “we need a redemption arc about a character from the first order having second thoughts and leaving to join the resistance” aka. Finn’s entire story in TFA. 2.) maybe Ben was brainwashed as a child by Snoke…aka. exactly what the first order did to Finn 3.) Ben was abused as a child and bullied by his peers….you mean Finn???? 4.) Ben and Rey going from friends to lovers ….like what you think would be boring if it was Finn and Rey???? 5.) creating AUs where Ben is kidnapped by tfo as a child and has to escape….again literally Finn’s story. 6.) post redemption Ben becoming friends/lovers with Poe, usually resulting on erasing Finn and poe’s entire friendship Probably more but it’s like 1 in the morning.

The more I look at the “there’s been an awakening” sequence, the more it stands out.

No, take a look.

That’s it. That’s the sequence. Two brief lines from Snoke and a very short reply from Kylo Ren.

What makes it even odder is that it has been shoehorned in between two major plot points, Hux agitating for and getting permission to use the Starkiller and the audience learning that Han Solo is Kylo Ren’s father.

The only reason for this kind of shoehorning is if it is meant to convey something that could not be conveyed anywhere else and that is of great importance to the story.

Past tense, so not foreshadowing of Rey’s awakening that happens 15 minutes later. And even if it was, with that kind of short time frame it would be the most useless foreshadowing ever.

This is the first time that Snoke and Kylo interact and the only time they do so prior to Rey’s awakening. Shoehorning this in here declares loudly for all to see and hear that there was an awakening prior to Rey’s and the movie wants to make that fact explicitly clear.

Conclusion: Finn is Force sensitive.

The awakening line makes no damn sense if it’s about Rey. The only person who has awakened - quite literally - at that point is Finn. And yet every time I try to point this out on a general SW forum, people are just like “lol wtf are you talking about, Rey is the awakening, Finn isn’t even force sensitive.”

Glorious gif by @vivelareysistance (x)

The SCRIPT itself tells us that Kylo stops and turns to look directly at Finn because Kylo FEELS SOMETHING!

Why else does the evil force user turn and look at FN-2187, stare at him, commit his designation to memory, and then throw a tantrum when he finds out it was that same stormtrooper that helped BB-8 escape Jakku?

Rey awakens on Starkiller during the interrogation. Finn awakens on Jakku. When Snoke says there’s been an awakening and asks Kylo if he’s felt it, Kylo’s “yes” is quite literally him referencing the moment in the gif & script above when he literally feels the force in Finn and turns to acknowledge him.

At this point, folks refusing to acknowledge that Finn is force sensitive are just being willfully obtuse.

I need to share this with u guys

this is description of Finn in my tv magazine

Translation: Finn(John Boyega)-prince and excellent warrior coming from a wooded planet Artorias  in the Outer Rim Territories.  He served as a trooper in the armies of the First Order.

what

Some part of me wants to believe somebody at Lucasfilm goofed and handed some story info over my mistake. The other is completely content that this magazine has a Star Wars fan that decided that come up with their own theory about Finn’s origins and laid it bare for all to see. Artorias is an Outer Rim planet and it appears to have a kingship, so, you k’know. Maybe he is a kidnapped prince.

#also the king of artorias in legends fought in the rebellion and like was at the battle of hoth#AND artorias is described as a peaceful planet with few defenses#on the outer rim#so it would make sense as a target for first order raids#look it’s totally possible this is just speculation or a mistake based on the legends character but aLSO#IT COULD BE REAL#finn#plus if it is him and they keep his name then he’d be finn galfridian#which is a cool-ass name (via na-vhenan)

PAGING @janoda

also this is even more amazing when you go into extended canon

not only did rey grow up orphaned and isolated, but also dirt poor, working a thankless job for despotic boss in order to feed herself and sometimes not managing even that. if you read ‘before the awakening’ rey’s story is utterly fucking heartbreaking because it’s outright said that she has, on multiple occasions, gone so hungry she had trouble standing. despite this she loves building things so much that she’d rather keep the best stuff she’s scavenging for herself than exchange it for food. she built her speeder already several years before we meet her, so like, in her mid-teens and she’s very proud of it. she has a workbench in her home and she’s always tinkering with things. rey would literally go hungry to follow her passion.

finn is basically caught in the equivalent of an abusive educational system that’s forcing him in little boxes and teaches skills (which incidentally involve murdering civilians) at the expense of his humanity. not only that but finn is also the overachiever who’s constantly doubting himself. it’s fucked up but before he escapes the first order so much of finn’s thought process is ‘i’m always at the top of the class and they’re saying i have so much potential, so why do i feel like such a failure?’ finn rebels against the order by bringing out his humanity full force and holding it up to them. he’s such a giant fuck you to the system it’s incredible. if anyone is a rebel in this story, it’s definitely finn.

poe is so interesting because at 32 he would actually still be in the millennial age gap. he’s older, and by all accounts should be that disillusioned guy who understood long ago that notions of galactic peace and what have you are useless in real life. he should be that dude who embraced his cynicism and is maybe sort of patronizing towards these idealistic wide-eyed kids. instead he’s the opposite of all that, but that’s not really the point. poe, whose family fought to establish the new republic, wants nothing more than to do his part in rebuilding it. but at some point in the process he runs head-first into a wall of corrupt politics and shady business deals that would profit from a war. but instead of giving up and keeping his head down once he realizes what he’s up against, poe goes and becomes a leader figure in the resistance.

so basically you have three young people: one who works incredibly hard and is often unable to cover her most basic needs, but doesn’t give up on her passion; one who should have been broken by an abusive educational system, but instead broke the system by affirming his humanity at every point in the story; and one who didn’t succumb to cynicism and chose to act once he understood politics is always self-interested.

and the second they meet they do nothing but praise and encourage and lift eachother up, loudly and enthusiastically.

space millennials. my heart is so full of love for this story.

Finn’s sexual awakening took place while he lived a crowded barracks amidst like a hundred other people, and Rey’s sexual awakening took place while she lived in an abandoned AT-AT miles away from anyone else, so Finn’s approach to masturbation is like “be still, be quiet, pretend you are still asleep and nothing is happening under this blanket, what could possibly be happening under this blanket? nothing because I’m asleep,” and Rey’s is like “time for screaming, it is scream time”

Which means they first time they combine their mutual sexual experience, it just stops halfway through so they can both be like, “UMMM SO I’M HAVING A GREAT TIME BUT WHAT ARE YOU DOING”

Fandom: “Oh but if Finn is Force sensitive then that’s why he broke through his conditioning.”

Me: *Han voice* “That’s not how the Force works!”

No, it really isn’t.

While being Force sensitive makes you extra resistant to entry or manipulation by other people using the Force, it makes you no more immune to mundane manipulation than you would have been had you not had access to the Force.

Palpatine managed to pull wool over the eyes of the entire Jedi Order for over a decade and manipulate Anakin into choosing the Dark Side by using mundane (i.e. non-Force) means. Luke, while strong in the Force and over all an upright and decent guy, still got lied to and mislead by both Obi-Wan and Yoda repeatedly and never twigged to it.

So no, being Force sensitive or even Force trained does not makes immune to being lied to, manipulated or even indoctrinated. If it did, the Rise of the Empire Jedi Order would not have been able to function as it did, as their training regiment of Younglings and Padawans was not really that different from what the First Order put their Stormtrooper cadets through.

Heck being Force sensitive doesn’t even make you a better or worse person than you’d otherwise would have been.

Padme Amidala, Bail Organa, Mon Mothma and many more? All of them non-Force sensitives who were moral, decent, upright people, never mind that they couldn’t levitate stuff.

Sidious, Tyranus, Vader, Snoke, Kylo Ren? Deeply evil people with the blood of millions on their hands, though all of them are trained Force users.

So no, just no. Finn’s ability to break his conditioning and disobey orders would have zip to do with him being Force sensitive, and everything to do with him being Finn.
