Just had a dream that I saw my tenth grade English teacher again and he finally told me that he was proud of me.. so I’m definitely going to spend the rest of the day thinking about what that says about me..
Nobody:
My uni’s English department once a month: hey emily we 👀noticed👀 that you are NOT an ✨English major✨ anymore we would like to formally implore you to PLEASE reconsider because we wanted to identify you as an honours candidate tbh it would be for the best if you just ✌🏻JOIN US✌🏻 again and we have 💕NO DOUBTS💕 that we will be hearing from you 💞soon💞
WHERE IS MR DARCY WHEN YOU NEED HIM?!
You know that trend on tiktok where people say why their friend dropped them?? I had this girl drop me because she believed the rumours that my friend and I were dating and couldn’t stand the idea of being the third wheel
And then a year later she sends me an apology and ends it with “I know you hate me but please try to act civilly in our group project together”
Bitch I was ready to THROW HANDS!
What do you plan on doing after college? (Scared high school senior here who is reconsidering her life choices because being a novelist is hard and I don't wanna be completely broke and need to know what all I can do with an english major)
I'm fine tho *nervous laughter*
Ahh I missed this ask sorry about that! To be honest I’m really not sure what I plan on doing after college. When I was in high school I had a few teachers tell me that I should go into English, and I’ve always loved English class, so I decided to become an English major. But you’re right, it is hard to find a job with an English degree. Speaking from the little bit of research that I’ve done, most careers that an English degree can work towards would also require another degree on top of it (I’m thinking law, education, political speech writing, etc). And so, getting an English degree is just another degree before your actual degree. And although I am currently an English major, I don’t necessarily have plans to get an English degree. I’ve already applied to switch into education, and I’m contemplating going for my lsat when I can. I’m definitely not knocking getting an English degree in anyway (I’ve been an English major for two years and I love it), and there are job opportunities (freelance writing, working towards becoming a professor, entering into an after degree program, etc) but it definitely is hard because it’s not a major that leads directly to a job (in the same way that nursing or education or law or journalism (etc) would).
Wow that response was long and (I fear) very unhelpful. But those are my thought. Xo.
Catch me hanging out in the baking aisle of whole foods to avoid saying hi to my 10th grade AP English teacher ✌🏻
The further I progress towards getting my English degree the more I feel like dropping out of school and moving away to a small cottage where I can live alone with just myself, my four cats (which I have yet to obtain), and my stacks of dusty old books.
But like I feel like that’s a natural progression for English majors so I think I’m on the right path...
Me: *genuinely tries to write a good Antigone essay*
My essay: ya so basically Antigone is a badass, Creon is a sexist pile of shit, and Haemon is?? Either the softest of boys or a horny teenager?? Maybe both?? I can’t decide about him.
“A word of warning. DONT FUCK WITH THE GREEK GODS!!”

I START SCHOOL IN LESS THAN A WEEK CAN SOMEONE PLZ CONVINCE ME TO DO MY SOPHOCLES SUMMER READING :(
Why does registering for uni classes make me want to scream, bang my head against a wall, and cry all at the same time???
I was tagged by @eadiemariastudies days ago to do this tag and I’m just now getting around to doing it. I’ve never been tagged in anything before, so it was really nice to be mentioned <3
I put a lot of effort into the music that I listen to. I like a wide variety of genres, so I usually make curated playlists for different moods/ styles. I shuffled through my messy all-encompassing playlist, which features every song that I like at the moment. So, my playlist features a bunch of different genres and artists all haphazardly grouped together, so you never know what genre you’re going to get :/
rules: you can usually tell a lot about a person by the type of music they listen to. put your music on shuffle and list the first ten songs, then tag ten people. No skipping!
- It will come back- Hozier
- Killer Queen- Queen
- Cecilia- Simon and Garfunkel
- Message in a bottle- The Police
- All night- Mishlawi
- Don’t you dare forget the sun- Get Scared
- Here comes the anxiety- The Wombats
- Tonight I feel like Kafka- Jealous of the Birds
- To the end- My Chemical Romance
- California- Yungblud
I’m not going to tag anyone because I don’t really know anyone here, but feel free to do the challenge for yourself and tag me so I can see your playlists🤗

Like yes, I am the person that you should trust to teach your children...
I rewatched the twilight movies and Ashley Greene as Alice has me wanting to chop my hair into a pixie cut and invest in a faux leather jacket,,
“How could you do this to me!! I bet you woke up this morning and went ‘boy, how can I absolutely fuck with my mom today!!’”
- my mom, upon me making her watch Twilight for the first time in 6 years
Have you ever had an interaction with someone that made you feel instantly connected to them?
For me, it’s the memory of hugging my distant cousin at a funeral. I was so sad I could barely speak and they just held me in a tight hug and told me it was going to be alright.
They had on this giant faux fur coat that was so soft and warm...
The hug lasted no more than a few seconds, but it felt like eternity. It was so peaceful.
I’m not close with my cousin and I haven’t talked to them since, but I think about that interaction a lot and it always makes me feel really connected to them...
