this is what carrd is right

moss, 30ish, they/them (xe/xem if written, but spoken english x sucks actually) US-based so I’m probably going to be pretty america-centric, sorry to every other country

i believe in descriptive language rather than prescriptive and i think terfs are fuckin dumb. i think people can change and also be held accountable, and i think we probably shouldnt build parasocial relationships with people we haven’t actually had a conversation with.

UH if you do need something tagged, you can ask, but odds aren’t great for 100% accuracy.

you’re probably not going to enjoy following me if you enjoy a. any sort of cohesive post schedule, b. rigid belief systems, or c. picking fights online

all things subject to change without warning

book from the sky (tianshu) xu bing, 1989-91

I was so excited to see a copy of this in real life bc it's something I studied in art history. this is a book that was typeset and printed by hand using wooden blocks but every one of the characters was invented for the sake of the piece and does not correspond to any word in the Chinese language

yes. he invented and hand carved 4000 characters. it is a CRAZY project that resulted in an intentionally unreadable book. I love it

actually you know what that's exactly it i would rather someone add 5 parantheticals after every sentence than use tone indicators it's 1. accomplishing SO much more in terms of clarity 2. extremely funny to look at depending on how they're used

observe:

"is this real? /gen" — i thought /gen meant "general" for ages. i would not be able to understand this on first sight a few years ago and is thus ineffective

"is this real? (genuine question)" — i fully understand this without issue

"is this real? (genuine question) (can't tell) (very realistic) (looks real) (scary) (photoshop?)" — is not only incredibly clear it's also very funny to read all of these thoughts stapled together while also in their own parentheses. it's also the most useful because now i can actually address all parts of what they are asking me with as much specificity as BOTH of us need

parentheses my beloved (they are for bonus thoughts) (and questions) ( and sidetracks) (like a 2nd conversation on top of the first)

My personal conspiracy theory: RFK’s brain worm isn’t dead. It’s piloting him Ratatouille style. It’s been steering him to a government health office for years as part of a grand plan to deregulate food safety so more and more people get parasites and the brain worm reigns supreme over a population that is slowly being eaten away.

spiritually this has 10k notes

Yayyyy shoutout to RFK’s brain worm for being insane enough to get me my most popular post yet

I'm thinking of Symphony of the Sixth Blast Furnace by Evgeny Sedukhin again...

hmm okay i'm trying to dig up a source on this painting, to see if i could find it in any higher quality

but i can't find any evidence of its existence from before 2018 lmao

and searching the artist's name only gets me like 6 pages of results on google

and a little artist showcase page on arthive for this guy with exactly 1 painting listed

and a biography that spells this guy's name like 5 different ways

which i'm pretty sure is because it's machine translated from something

very mysterious

oh doing his name in russian gives me some actually useful results, why didn't i think to do that

Солнечный город "Sunny City" - No date given.

Мир "World" - No date given.

Чусовские просторы. "Chusovskie expanses." Canvas, oil, 1997. Exhibited at the Nizhny Tagil Museum of Nature.

Осень "Autumn"

ooooh this one is really nice

Огни трудового Тагила, "The Lights of Labor Tagil" acquired by the Tretyakov Gallery in 1986.

октябрь "October" 2009 cardboard, oil, 29.5x39.5 cm

Осень на Чусовой, "Autumn on Chusovaya" 1999, canvas, oil, 79x100 cm

Чугун идет "Cast Iron is Coming" 1976

okay that's all the art this article had, i'm really glad i could find some this artist's other woks!!!!

  • Car Trunk vs Car Boot: A clear win for US English, trunk was already a thing in which you stored items, frequently for transport.
  • Crisps vs Chips: I gotta admit, the Brits have this one. They're thin slices of potato that have been made crispy. No chipping of any materials involved.
  • Car Park vs Parking Lot: Equally matched. What's a car park? A place to park cars. What's a parking lot? An otherwise empty lot where you can park.
  • Elevator vs Lift: Both equally fail to address that the damn thing also goes down.

being a writer leads to a genuinely helpful but also very stupid kind of mindfulness where you'll be having a sobbing breakdown or the worst anxiety attack of your life and think "okay, I really need to pay attention to how this feels. so I can incorporate it into my fanfiction."

  1. Yes, this is stupid
  2. It does work to disrupt unhelpful behavior
  3. If it's Stupid but it works, its not stupid.
