What Are We? - Chapter 5

Brendan and Y/N had done it. For two weeks they had fake dated for their families. They held hands, slept in the same bed, kissed, and did all the things that couples do. The thing was, Y/N’s parents had left almost a month and a half ago and the two kids hadn’t stopped. Kent would walk in from class and they would be snuggled up on the couch with each other just enjoying the others company. Y/N stayed the night multiple days a week and more of Brendan’s clothes had gone missing, mysteriously ended up in Y/N’s closet. Kent wasn’t the only one who had noticed, the entire team had figured out something was up and made jabs about it to Briss.
“Hey Nick.” Y/N walked into the hockey house after class one day and Blanks was sitting at the counter working on what she could only assume was a paper.
“Hey Y/N. What’s up?” Y/N shrugged off her backpack and sat down next to the boy.
“I’m looking for B, he said that he was on his way back when I got out of class. We’re having movie night.” Nick nodded as he kept typing away.
“He sent a text saying that he stopped at the store. You and I need to have a brother/sister chat though.” The girl tensed up, she had assumed that this was going to come sooner or later. Her and Brendan had talked about what to do when the boys, especially Nick, started to ask questions.
“Yeah Blanks, lets talk.” And they did. They talked about everything, she told him the story, from the beginning.
~ A Month And A Half Ago ~
Y/N let out a sigh of relief as she shut the front door. “Finally. That may have been the longest two weeks of my life.” Brendan walked up behind her and laid his hands on her shoulders.
“I think you and I need a nap.” Y/N nodded her head and grabbed his hand, leading him toward the couch.
“No no no, we both need a real nap come on.” Brendan steered her towards her bedroom and shut the door behind him. As they both threw back the blankets on the bed, Y/N stopped at looked at the boy across from her. As she opened her mouth to speak Brendan blurted out five words that Y/N never thought she’d hear.
“I’m in love with you.”
“I’m sorry what?” Y/N looked stunned.
“Nevermind, I-I should probably go. I’m sorry.” Brendan rushed out but Y/N followed quickly behind.
“B! Wait!” Brendan turned around and looked at his best friend with the most remorse she had ever seen him with.
“What? Y/N, if you’re going to tell me that you don’t feel the same you don’t have to. Please we can just drop it.”
“Brendan Brisson, I’m in love with you too. Have been for a while actually. Probably since the first day we ever met and you almost ran me over with your stupid scooter. You are my everything Brendan and I love you so much.” At this point she was crying happy tears, finally able to tell her feelings to the one person that she always thought she would never be able to tell and now she had. Brendan rushed toward her and grabbed her, kissing her with the 2 years of pent up feelings.
“I am so in love with you Y/N. So so so in love with you.”
~ Present Day ~
Nick looked at her and hugged her.
“I am so happy for you two. Also Owen, Johnny, Cam and Kent all owe me money now.” Y/N giggled as Blanks pulled out his phone to text the group chat. The two of them heard the front door open and Brendan yell out.
“Babe I’m..” He trailed off as he realized you weren’t in the house alone. “Oh hey Cap.” Y/N got up and walked over to her boyfriend.
“B, he knows. I think it’s time that the rest of the team does too.” Brendan looked at Nick and then looked down at Y/N.
“I’m ready when you are.” Y/N smiled as Brendan kissed her forehead. This was everything she’d ever wanted.
