It’s been a month since I visited Iwami! So I decided to share with the Rinharu fandom a little view of Otani Beach aka where the bench scene takes place in Free! Take Your Marks. 

As you can see, this place is SO QUIET. Literally not even a soul is here. I still wonder why Haru and Rin decided to meet up in this place. It is far from Haru’s house, so he either took a train from Iwatobi/Iwami station and got off in Oiwa, he rode a bike or he drove there ehem.

To those going to Iwami soon, Otani is like 5 km from Iwami Station! So rent the 32 km bike! Also it will help you if you want to participate in the stamps tour (Like I did!) But please be careful because I almost killed myself like three times and got lost a lot :D 

But as I said before, visiting this place was WORTH IT  ✿

Take Your Marks Review

Okay, general disclaimer first. I don’t speak Japanese nor understand it very well. I have, however, reviewed all of the existing summaries of this movie on Tumblr and am part of a collective (RH Discord Group) that includes people who speak Japanese fairly well. This has informed my knowledge of general dialogue. For the sake of fairness, most of this review will focus on visuals, rather than dialogue. I believe I can speak to what I saw to a reasonable degree.

Look I have proof I was there!  

I’m also doing this review in terms of what I enjoyed rather than a pure summary (though it will be summary-ish because that’s how my brain works) because of said Japanese language barrier.  As I said, there are at least two direct summaries available. I’m going to try to touch on things that lack elaboration from what I’ve seen.

Free! Take Your Marks

So I’ve been getting some private messages etc. asking about “Take Your Marks” spoilers and how the movie relates to RH in particular. 

Since a lot of people seem completely in the dark and still in a slump, there are two things I’d like to tell you: 

1) Your stress is unwarranted. The movie will make your HaruRinHaru-craving heart pound !!!  2) If this doesn’t set your mind at ease for the long wait before the DVD release, and you absolutely must hear at least some spoilers: the RinHaru Discord chat has almost everything you could possibly want to know - gathered from a week of painstakingly combing through Japanese accounts’ sparse spoilers, and from westerner RHs that have now seen the movie in person.
