actually if we’re mutuals we are valentines. no takebacksies.
internet friends are such a gift. always. but especially now. especially. so glad to have you all.
The thing I hate the most is seeing posts and tweets and crap saying something along the lines of “It’s just a tv show” or “It’s just a movie”. It’s almost always people who are trying to ‘win an argument’ or turd on someone else’s emotions surrounding something.
To a lot of people, these movies and tv shows aren’t just that. I don’t know why that’s so hard for some people to understand. Maybe that’s what separates fandom folk from The Norms. To them it really is just a momentary burst of lights and noise that can distract them from their jobs or kids. To others though, it’s a little ledge we can cling to as we stand in the middle of a stormy sea. It’s a life raft, a ray of hope, a spark of inspiration that might even give someone the will to keep living. It’s just happiness, wrapped up in a little story. Why is that such a bad thing to love?
So anytime you feel the need to dismiss someone or something by claiming “It’s just a—” STOP. Don’t say it. Don’t dismiss how much a story means to someone else just because it doesn’t mean anything to you.
