there were too many titans to count. it was abnormal for there to be this many coming to one small town between the walls. homes were destroyed, innocent civilians were being eaten alive everywhere you looked. the streets were coated with their blood. it was the worst titan attack you had ever seen. far worse than shiganshina. these people didn’t have a wall to protect them. they were out in the open. they were prey. and their predators were having a feast.
your squad was working with levi’s, all trying your best to take down as many titans as you could. both of your squads had been handpicked by both you and levi. they were the best of the best. you trusted all of them to either slay dozens of titans or go down fighting. it wasn’t going to be possible to kill all of them, though. everyone was running low on fuel and blades. you didn’t want to admit it, but if you didn’t head back soon there weren’t going to be many scouts left.
your blade, although dull, sliced through a 4 meter titan’s nape as you jumped from a rooftop. you were a skilled scout. when it came to killing titans it came naturally to you. but you didn’t have time to add a point to your mental list of total kills. bodies, debris and wood suddenly came flying in your direction.
Hello! I really liked your fic about Levi being protected and going into some kind of shock? I'm sorry, I don't know how to say it really. Could you write some more about that? Him going into shock and reader coaxing him out of it?
//gn!reader, minor injury, shock(?), canon-typical violence, OCD ritual | wc: 1.7k
All it takes is one fucking slip-up. One stroke of bad luck or a tiny mistake, and you can get grabbed, torn in two in a shower of blood and guts, or go careening to the forest floor like a bird shot out of the sky.
It replays over and over and under Levi’s skin. Yes, he got there in time to slice the Titan’s nape, but in your haste to get out of its hold, you overshot your next maneuver with a dislocated shoulder and hit the forest floor rolling. He wasn’t fast enough to stop that.
He knows he’s a hypocrite. He chewed you out all the way to the injured wagons, subjecting you to it all with you behind him on the saddle. But there he went afterwards, passing control of his squad to Eld multiple times, breaking formation to cut through the inner ranks, in search of Titans, in search of a threat, and you.
You didn’t even bleed, but that’s not the point. You could’ve had much worse done to you. You could be a corpse right now. The scenarios keep playing in his mind.
He’ll learn to be in two places at once for a potential next time. Fuck it.
And besides, where there’s a whole line of green flares, Levi doesn’t feel too conflicted disobeying Erwin’s indirect orders. When he finds out, because Erwin simply always does, he’ll deal with it. In all his years as a Scout, Levi has committed insubordination more than once, in the past. That doesn’t matter.
He catches you among the injured, center in his line of sight from time to time, and you’re alive. That’s what matters. Keeps him from imagining the smell of blood, the sound of that muffled pop a body makes when when it’s crushed in a fist, and the sight? A mangled body discarded in the grass like garbage. He can’t fucking stand it.
Happy Birthday Captain Levi ♡ Dec. 25

Rich navy blanketed the sky, accompanied by a layer of glimmering stars filling its emptiness. Darkness of the night spread throughout; however, it wasn’t gloomy. The darkness was serene, like an ally to a lonely soul. Once in a while, the dots flickered, reminding you of their hopeful presence. Beneath the majestic sky, streamed a riveting river, gleaming under the silver moonlight. You could hear the soft singing of the wind as it coursed through the waves and rustled against the oak trees.
Reclined against one tall tree, you stared at the midnight’s beauty. After intensive training, the sight seemed to soak up your exhaustion. The surrounding blue and green trees canopied against the river made your head calmer and lightweight, as if you were floating in thin air, towards a fated destination.
You were admiring the scenic view when suddenly you heard shuffling from somewhere around. You paused, your ears perking up- a skill you had acquired from picking up onto oncoming titans. You clearly heard distant rustling of leaves as if someone was crudely stepping upon them, determinedly marching their way through the grove. You turned to inspect the area, irritated upon the unexpected intrusion. You didn’t want anyone to find you right now.
You caught sight of a shadow appearing from behind the trees to your east. It drew closer as the sound of brittle leaves crushed against some boots became clearer. Then, your eyes fell upon the intruder.
His moonlit gaze narrowed as they met yours. His slender frame eased itself out of the ample trees, exposing himself as he stepped onto the rugged land. If you had been annoyed at the intruder for interrupting your time, you had now forgotten all about it, your mouth parting in fascination as you watched the familiar man standing before you.
Captain Levi.
Your clenched fists relaxed.
He surveyed you for a moment and then walked directly towards you, his gaze trained on you. Was it his intention to pay you a visit? You jerked up, suddenly too aware of your lethargic pose, collecting your knees more respectfully to face the stern captain.
He stopped a step away, his head lowered.
“Captain, what is the matter?” You eagerly questioned, assuming he had work related issues to be looking for you in the middle of the night.
He didn’t respond. Instead, he swiftly moved to sit beside you. You caught sight of his abdominal muscles clench, prominent against his white buttoned shirt, as he sat down against the tree. His back pressed against the wooden trunk as he shifted to a more comfortable position, one leg bending up and the other laying flat against the ground-which also showed off his leg muscles through black pants.
Levi was never really one to care about his physical appearance. When he left the underground and could finally afford new clothing he did, admittedly, want to wear nicer, better fitting clothes. He considers new clothes a guilty pleasure, and by no means a necessity. He wears them to feel good about himself, not appear good.
Similarly with his face, and other peoples faces for that matter, as long as it’s clean, he doesn’t really care about the way it looks. Levi will judge someone by their attitude and personality on wether they are ‘ugly’ or ‘beautiful’.
But now, as he stares at his reflection, Levi considers himself ugly inside and out.
Levi’s good eye follows the deep scar from the point above his eyebrow, down to where his blind, white eye gazes back uselessly.
Taking in his scarred face he feels his heart drop. He considers his body rotten; with his face marred, unuseable leg, and lines from the ODM gear that will never seem to fade. Levi wishes he could scrub away every mark on his body down to the bone. He feels used and unclean.
Levi’s chest tightens as these intrusive thoughts begin to multiply. He starts to claw at his chest with his remaining fingers, trying to undo the buttons around his neck, hoping to get more air.
Hearing his urgent gasps, you rush into the bathroom and upon surveying the scene, move forward to unbutton his shirt for him. This action seems to calm Levi and he takes in a big lung-full of air.
“You okay? What happened?” You say urgently, surveying him for any injuries and then the room for the cause of distress, when no injuries where found.
“‘M fine” he replies, leaning forward to place his head on your shoulder, still catching his breath.
You don’t push him to talk, you know better than that. You of all people know that adjusting to life after war is difficult, so instead you rub gentle circles into his back.
Levi doesn’t want to burden you with his petty thoughts on his new appearance, he knows you deserve better. Someone who can look after you, the same way you do him. Someone who can give you everything.
You’ve both been through so much shit together and maybe one day Levi will share his baggage with you. But for now, he’s left wondering how you’ve managed to stay so beautiful, despite it all.
