What I wish Rooster could have admitted. What he said to Maverick was so vicious, biting, and cruel, even from him at the time–and I’ve come to the conclusion that he wasn’t being entirely truthful. Mav had already lost those closest to him, and Rooster wanted to drive it in where it hurt most–that Mav meant nothing. That he had no family left, including Bradley.

Yet Rooster was willing to risk his career–and his life–to disobey orders and go back after Maverick. He cares far more for that old man than he would admit.
