Do you wish AO3 had a night mode? I have good news for you. It does!
Go to https://archiveofourown.org/skins and find Reversi in the list of public skins. You can either preview it to see what it looks like (it’s the picture above), or you can set it to make the change.
From that same url, you can also Create your own Site Skin. If you’re not confident with coding, you can always start by copying the code from one of the public skins and then tweaking the colours or fonts to suit your preferences.
For exampe, I once combined Reversi (dark mode) with Bylines (which separates each type of tags on a fic onto its own line when you’re browsing the archive). You can get the code here, if that’s a thing you want.
If you want to make the site look a different way, the power is in your hands! And if you ever want to go back to the way AO3 looked before, you can just Revert to Default Skin.

Hey, everyone! Due to the sudden influx of viewers on AO3, the site has had to modify some things, including the experience of guest users and how hits are counted on the site. This is not the fault of AO3 (they’re doing their best to keep things up and running for all of us), but if you’re a guest user following stories on AO3, PLEASE make sure to leave kudos for your authors to see. We understand it can be difficult to get an account on AO3 (probably more now with COVID-19 leaving people in their homes), but sudden drops in statistics can be inexplicable and disheartening.
Keep your heads up, people. We’re gonna get through this.

Due to a drastic spike in the Archive’s traffic, we’re implementing work caching for logged out users beginning immediately. As a result, hits from logged out users will no longer be added to works’ hit counts, and logged out users may notice a few other changes to their experience.
