rogue question: since you're a flight attendant, do you have a list of uniforms you like from different airlines?? whenever i fly i always admire some of the uniforms--like traditional dresses with singapore airlines, or those with berets/hats like emirates and avianca!!
I love this question! I was based in JFK for six years, so I was able to see some of the uniforms up close. I love seeing uniforms that reflect the culture and traditions of their home countries. On the flip side, I gravitate towards more modern/sleek uniforms because a lot of airlines still have uniforms that are stuck in the '90s.
My favorite by far is the 'Rosy Clouds' uniform for Hainan Airlines. I think it's the mix of tradition and high fashion that makes me love it so much.
Emirates is on the list because it's so iconic. Whenever they'd walk through the terminal, everyone would stop and stare.
Singapore Airlines and their 'Singapore Girl' marketing is also one of my favorites.
Same with Malaysia Airlines. I love the colors of their kebaya.
Qatar Airways is another airline that people stop and stare at when they walk through the terminal. And I love the burgundy...I think it's a color that looks good on everyone.
China Eastern was designed by Christian Lacroix and looks kind of similar to the Air France uniforms he designed, but I like these better.
Quantas recently refreshed their uniforms and they became one of my favorites. I'm not really sure why I love them, but I think it has to do with the fact that it's just one more airline that's giving flight attendants a more updated/stylish look.
Virgin Atlantic. Vivienne Westwood. I have coveted this coat since it first came out. A little known fact, when you're hired your airline will give you a uniform package and it always comes with a coat...typically a basic black trench coat. So whenever a new uniform comes out, we also get excited if there's a unique coat.
And in loving memory of Virgin America...I loved their uniforms and miss seeing them. I think they were the first airline (at least in the US) to give flight attendants a modern uniform.
Thank you for asking this! I've always had my favorites but it's been fun to do a little research and see uniforms from around the world.
