La Tène Style Copper Alloy Helmet possibly found in Northern England from 50-150 CE on display at the British Museum in London
Made from beaten copper the helmet copies the Roman Coolus helmet in its form with the neck guard decorated in the La Tène style. This suggests the influence of Roman military technology of the later Republican period in Celtic design. Helmets were a rare sight among Celtic warriors and worn by those to indicate their status. Most helmets were intended for display rather than war.

Taking a little Louvre-break to share a groovy hat from the British Museum!
[ID: A copper helmet consisting of a peaked dome meant to sit over the head, with a brim in front extremely reminiscent of a baseball cap/snapback hat’s brim – flat and rounded, with a depiction of foliage on the top.]
