hello mr. gaiman

hope this ask finds you well

i don't know if it was intentional to make us hate gabriel and adore jim, but this is how many of us are feeling. how can we love and hate the very same creature?

in my opinion the thing with gabriel/jim is that if you erase the burden of being the supreme archangel and all the knowledge about humanity's future, put them in a loving and caring environment with people that embrace their curiosity and give them a pat in the back once in a while... they can actually grow into a decent creature!?

not saying this to excuse gabriel being an absolute piece of s*** in series 1 neither justifying the other pieces of s*** angels remaining.

just been thinking about this a lot lately. it kinda proves the point of the trauma caused by heaven. they're not exactly “the good guys”.

It was very intentional, yes.

it's almost like good omens is suggesting, not to fall into either-or type thinking, "the good guys" and "the bad guys" aren't helpful ways of thinking about people. (easy, but ultimately not helpful)

I know a lot of people think Crowley was horribly tortured in Hell as a punishment for his Good Deed in Edinburgh, but tbh I like the idea they put him on boring desk duty for like a decade. Or put him through a torturously long educational video on What Demons Are Supposed To Do, with a shitty test at the end and an essay on How He Won't Ever Do Good Again to turn in.

... actually yeah that absolutely counts as horrible torture nvm

That’s definitely more Good Omens like.

And for your punishment you’re going to watch these work videos and you need to pass each quiz with at least 90% so you actually have to pay attention.

Oh lord noooooooo.

Muriel is holding The Crow Road by Iain Banks book which has been spotted several times in the promos 👀

From wiki: The novel describes Prentice McHoan's preoccupation with death, sex, his relationship with his father, unrequited love, sibling rivalry, a missing uncle, cars, alcohol and other intoxicants, and God, against the background of the Scottish landscape.

The novel combines menace (it contains an account of a "perfect murder") and dark humour (note the opening sentence: "It was the day my grandmother exploded.") with an interesting treatment of love. Banks uses multiple voices and points of view, jumping freely in both time and character. Even minor characters like Prentice's grandmother, the fictional town of Gallanach, and his family's home in Lochgair receive careful description, giving Prentice's life depth and context.

The book follows Prentice's journey of discovery about himself, those he loves, and the ways of the world.

"The Crow Road" is the name of a street in the west of Glasgow, but serves as well as a metaphor for death, as in "He's away the Crow Road". The appropriateness of this title becomes apparent as the novel progresses.

The Garden of Earthly Delights ft. some familiar faces.

The Garden of Earthly Delights by Hieronymous Bosch

from the book:

Crowley had got a commendation for the Spanish Inquisition. He had been in Spain then, mainly hanging around cantinas in the nicer parts, and hadn't even known about it until the commendation arrived. He'd gone to have a look, and had come back and got drunk for a week.

That Hieronymous Bosch. What a weirdo.

When I binge watch a show, I tend to move on to the next episode as soon as the credits roll, and a lot of times the "pick up where you left off" feature will bookmark me at the credits of an episode I've already finished. Does that muck with the "completion rate" data, or would the progress bar at 99.9% of episode 3 with the rest of the episodes at 100% still count as completion?

(I realise this might be a technical questio that you're as in the dark about as I am)

I think it still counts as completion.

And as a note: there is different end title music for each episode, it's wonderful, and if you can work out how to stop the next episode starting as the credits roll and listen to it, you should.
