(this was the stir causing Gabriel :D)
Peter Anderson: Hi, my name is Peter Anderson. I'm from Peter Anderson Studio and we created the title sequence to Good Omens Season Two. So this scene is quite literally a continuation from Season One.
An interesting detail with this scene is the fly. The fly is significant because it stores Gabriel's memory.
Gabriel is hidden in every scene. This is the first time we see it.
This goat is half bird, half goat, representing a mistake in a moment of transformation.
In the pickled herring barrel, we have literally red herrings sticking out.
A lot of the gravestones have hidden engravings, easter eggs, all written by Neil.
[This one says: HERE LIES THE FORMER SHELL OF BEELZEBUB referncing Beelzebub having a new face in S2 :), another ones are: EVERYDAY, JANE AUSTEN, Here lies ADAM (the Adam from Adam and Eve is meant)]
Another hidden Gabriel.
Our same character that was trying to escape Hell in Season One titles is also trying to escape here, moving in the opposite direction to the rest of the procession. Except this time he's apprehended and dragged back into the procession.
Our Hell spider from episode four makes a little appearance in the background here.
Can you tell where the bus is going? Director Douglas McKinnon selected Powell and Pressburger's Stairway to Heaven to put on the billboard.
Another thing to note here is the type is all handmade specifically for Good Omens. The Alphabet only exists within the show.
The big floating turnip is a nod to Azirafel's magic tricks.
The Ladies of Camelot poster we pulled from the show.
We added plaques to the back of the chairs and Neil chose who to honour.
[There are: A TALE OF TWO CITIES by CHARLES DICKENS, PRIDE AND PREJUDICE by JANE AUSTEN, THE CROW ROAD by IAIN BANKS (twice!) and GOOD OMENS by TERRY PRATCHETT (Neil missing for some reason :) <3)]
Saraquiel made an appearance from Heaven.
Our Space is back from Season One. Aziraphale and Crowley are having a little dance here. A moment of flirtation. There's a tiny planet in the middle that comes into existence at this moment.
Our Scottish tartan hills make an appearance here.
The aeroplane and the airline is a little bit of a clue here.
[THY KINGDOM AIRWAYS 👀]
It's raining love hearts in reference to Aziraphale's attempt at making Maggie and Nina fall in love.
Here are elevators to Heaven and Hell. A wee thing to spot. Here is Gabriel in the lift arriving from Heaven.
We've updated our flags to reference some of the plotlines in Season Two. For example, The Second Coming.
The movie poster artwork changes every week, representing the episode plotlines and the minisodes. We made the posters to look like the time period and in this case we've got a Good Omens version of Buddy Holly.
[The posters are:]
In the snack bar some of our popcorn is actually communion wafers.
There are specific characters from Season One in the boxes watching the movie as the procession goes by. This includes some of our original concept art from Season One.
The duck playing the accordion is from a newspaper headline that someone is reading in The Dirty Donkey from one of the episodes.
[this is also from the Good Omens book :): "Daily Mail. 'Letter From America.' Um, August the third," said Newt. "Just after the story about the woman in Worms, Nebraska, who taught her duck to play the accordion."]
Each episode is showing a new movie on the screen, each one selected by Douglas, and has clues about what's to come.
The season one foam box tumbles in the background.
The big mountain is made of all the ingredients from Season Two and a couple of remnants from Season One. We are heading towards the biggest Easter Egg, which is the lift. We're heading towards the Second Coming..
Creating The S2 Title Sequence :) ❤
Peter Anderson: Hi, my name is Peter Anderson. I'm from Peter Anderson Studio. And we created the title sequence to Good Omens Season Two. So, we begin our journey with our angel and our demon starting again, climbing back from this enormous ending from Season One. We experiment and we don't stop experimenting.
So, you know, we built fire out of paper as a stop free emotion.
You know, our clouds are cotton wool. It's not just clever, big CGI.
It's experimenting with other ways in which we can make the world of Good Omens feel fresh and original.
And lots of the procession are the actual costumes that were in the drama.
A lot of them worn by me and other members of the Peter Anderson studio on a travelator in a green screen. Where we could almost all of the faces of our characters, even though they're dressed in costume, and build up the different roles played within the drama, their faces are built from our angel or our demon.
The crossover happens straight away with the live action. We've got live action figures that straightaway have got two-dimensional heads. But we mess with them. We give them mohicans, we cut up their faces to make them look like our various characters.
And like season one, we're building a world. We're building the universe. We playfully add storytelling elements that really are reflective of Neil's storytelling. We do our best to push and play with what animation can be...
To add 3D elements, 2D elements,
to live action elements, to really low-fly animation elements. You know, we're not just hinting and teasing at things with these tiles. We're obsessing over every part of the storytelling.
Hi Ixi! So near the end of GO2 opening titles, there's what looks like a sunken ship, and there's something written on its hull. I can't for the life of me figure out what it is, has anyone been able to read it or even make a guess?
Hiya! :) It is mirrored :)
It says 'GOOD TRAITS'
Similarly before there is a ship?submarine? that has a mirrored writing on it probably saing 'P.A.SHIPS' :)
So you said the end credit music is different each episode (which I am SO excited to listen to), will there be anything different about the opening title scene each episode? :)
Hello sir, very important serious question about Good Omens 2 plot!
Is this duck playing the accordion or just holding it?
It is playing the accordion. Why would a duck just hold an accordion?
It turns out that the duck playing the accordion was in the book! 🦆🪗😂

The prime shared one big pic in pieces on twitter! :) I put it together as pic and as gif :). (with corrected Vive la révolution (there was Viva: Vive is French, Viva is Spanish :))))
- You can't make gloriously madder Opening Title than Good Omens Season 1
- Peter Anderson Studio: Hold my beer. :)
The blue book here in the S2 Opening Title is Modern Magic: A Practical Treatise on the Art of Conjuring by Professor Hoffmann from 1876 and can be read online under the Project Guttenberg :).
From wiki: Modern Magic by Professor Hoffmann (real name Angelo Lewis) is a treatise in book form, first published in 1876, detailing the apparatus, methods and tricks used by the magicians and conjurors of that era. Hoffmann was considered to be one of the greatest authorities on the theory and practice of magic, despite his own limited professional experience as a magician.
The first edition of Modern Magic "sold out within weeks and subsequent printings continued to fly off the shelves." Its popularity was due in part to the scarcity of teaching materials available to would-be magicians in the late 19th century. Modern Magic was the first book in the English language to really explain how to perform magical feats The publication of Modern Magic was controversial, however, as some magicians were outraged that their secrets were now published On the other hand, it appears that Hoffmann only published secrets with their creators' permission.
Modern Magic, and Hoffmann's writings in general, influenced several well-known magicians including Howard Thurston, Chung Ling Soo, Alexander, and Harry Houdini. David Copperfield's private museum is home to Hoffmann's personal copy of Modern Magic. Copperfield believes that "the book eventually played an essential role in elevating the art of conjuring and may have acted as a catalyst for the entire golden age of magic".
Ooh! 4k version of the S2 Good Omens Opening Title! :)❤
We begin by rejoining the Good Omens universe where we left in series 1, with Crowley rising from the depths of Hell, while Aziraphale gracefully descends from the heavens, both ready to embark on an unprecedented adventure and lead our procession once again. Their odyssey, both grandiose and symbolic, whisks us through a kaleidoscope of surreal and emblematic landscapes.
We continue our procession through a series of intricate scenes, transitioning from biblical to urban to magical realms and progresses into the earth’s interior, and into a cavern of hell. We see urban wasteland resembling an M25 scene, a forest of concrete lift shafts, a familiar Soho scene (this time raining hearts), and a cinema that changes its signage and posters episodically. The urban dereliction then morphs into a landscape filled with props and destruction, leading to an urban precipice where a blinding light engulfs everything.
The artful succession of scenes unveils layers of storytelling, each landscape serving as a narrative catalyst, revealing subtle hints and foreshadowing pivotal developments. Our sequence is a cinematic symphony, harmoniously combining a myriad of techniques from green screen footage and stop motion to 3D and 2D character rigging.
Here you go. The Good Omens S2 Episode 1 title sequence, by Peter Anderson Studios, music by David Arnold. We warned you it was madder than the S1 titles, and it is. I think it's really good.
