Wheat field next to a lavender field.
I mean…
The overdramatic goth one is soft for the sunshine one.
A messy lavender painting for dearest @honeybeelullaby - this was painted small, but my brushes were not very small… so the result is a mess.

Here’s my piece for the Love Wins edition of @oursidezine! This was a lovely zine and I’m very honoured to have been involved. 🌈💚
Lavender has historically been associated with LGBTQ+ identities, so I wanted to pay homage to that with this piece. I was also inspired by the tradition of “Boston marriages” and felt that aesthetic would suit the ineffable wives. Living in a cottage with your wife sure sounds nice. 💜

Greece_Macedonia_ Kozani - Into the lavender field
hey wasnt there that line when they were talking abt the bridesmaid dresses and someone (john iirc?? its been literal years) corrects and says 'lilac' /thinking emoji
Yes, you remember well
I think the emphasis may be on the fact that it’s not purple. But above all, not to contradict Sherlock, but the bridesmaids are in lavender, and therefore the flower pinned to the lapel of the two … friends, the one in lilac is only Janine.
Lilac is a pale purple with a pink tinge, lavender a pale purple with a blue tinge. Lilac is a color that widows wore, a tribute to the Sherlock’s dead heterosexuality (or born dead, like Rachel in ASIP), I dare say
wqw, interesting distinction! this makes me want to review the language of flowers metas from s3.
Here you go. @cheuwing marys-wedding-bouquet-john-and-sherlocks

My bumbles in the lavender
The Hour 99
gins: I feel like we should make a cocktail in honor of A Hundred Hours, with like… a pear cider base hbbo: ooh! yes! gins: and, like, lavender hbbo: and bitters gins: and St. Germain
So, inspired by A hundred hours, @havingbeenbreathedout and I present:
The Hour 99 makes 2 cocktails
2 oz. Armagnac (can substitute calvados, but Armagnac is both better and more narratively appropriate) 2 oz. lemon juice 2 oz. lavender-ginger syrup (recipe below) 1 oz. St. Germain 4 dashes orange bitters 1 bottle pear cider, chilled lemon zest strips for garnish
Combine everything except for the pear cider and the lemon zest in a shaker full of ice; shake well. Split between two tumblers (TUMBLERS), each containing 3 ice cubes and strips of lemon zest (3 small strips, or one long fancy strip if that’s how you roll). Top off with pear cider (you’ll probably have some cider left over).
Lavender-Ginger Syrup makes about 1 ½ cups
1 cup sugar 1 cup water ¼ cup dried lavender flowers ¼ cup dehydrated ginger (not crystallized/candied)
Heat sugar and water in a small saucepan, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved. Add lavender and ginger; stir well. Simmer for 1-2 minutes, then remove from the heat and let sit for half an hour. Strain out the lavender and ginger and transfer the cooled syrup into an appropriate storage container (we use a small cruet, for easy pouring). Store in the refrigerator.
Additional Notes: There will be a companion drink to this, to be posted in, uh… about eleven weeks. Watch this space!
well, i know i like pear cider, that is THE BEST, and i like lemon and ginger and lavender. I'm not sure what the other things are, but this is interesting.
