Are there Good Omens events I can participate in? Or do I need to organise one myself?
there was the Ineffablecon last? year, but i haven’t seen anything about it happening again. maybe track those folks down?
There’s a virtual Good Omens event to celebrate its birthday this Saturday, May 7! Hosted by the Ineffable Con folks.
good to know!
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT! I am still in this fandom to a certain point, but twice-weekly posts (and finding the information save the ones you lovely people send me) is beginning to take its toll on the gazillion other things that are lining up. I am considering ‘abdicating’ the newsletter if I can find someone who is willing to pick it up and run it. If you do, please contact me through [email protected]. There’s a gmail to take over, a twitter, a tumblr, a trello and even an instagram I never got around to using. As well as a pillowfort account. I will still be around to assist if needed and I WILL vet applications. If you’ve ever started shit in this fandom, I’ll probably know and the answer will be NO. I have too much respect for the users of this newsletter to just go for the first and best offer.
What’s new this week? A new discord server :D - but nothing else just yet (we have some things coming up later in the year that you can already take a look at now). But if you know of an event going on or coming up, feel free to let me know :)
Go forth, have fun! Create much!
If you run a GO tumblr with recs or resources, let me know. Running a zine and want to get the word out? The inbox is always open.
If any discord servers go AWOL or you feel one should be added (remember to clear it with the MODS first) feel free to let me know. As always, the email [email protected] is always open for business.
EVENTS WITH DEADLINES
EVENTS WITHOUT DEADLINES
OPEN for sign-ups
OPEN for mod/help applications
INTEREST CHECK
As always, when entering a discord server, follow its rules, check out the dos and don’ts and don’t harass the mods or your server sibs.
If you have any suggestions for blogs with recs and/or resources, feel free to let me know.
Community Calendar (Trello) can be viewed here (it is updated through the week if I hear of any events to add and will often have some more information on the events/zines etc.).
—–
This newsletter is mirrored on pillowfort and tumblr and announced on twitter.
* This is something tumblr never learned but PF has adopted from the old LJ format - if anyone wants a PF invite, just ask - we get 3 per week anyway to give away and there are pillowforters who will happily share invites.
—–
If you have an event you want to add to the calendar and the weekly Newsletter, don’t hesitate to let me know either in the asks/PM or via ineffableplanner (@) gmail dot com.
Also, feel free to share this post. This blog is NOT for reblogging of events, but for listing and perhaps making it a bit easier for everyone to keep track of these events before they’ve come AND gone ;)
Disclaimer: I am not running any of these zines, events or servers (in the few cases where I am involved in the mod work, I will make note of this). Please use your common sense and if you feel you’ve entered an event/zine/server/community you feel uneasy about, do not hesitate to step away from it. You may let me know if there’s a problem with one, but please know that I am not able to police every single one of them, nor will I play God in other people’s domains. I will let the mods know there is a problem (without mentioning your name and if it’s grave enough, take the link off), but please do not expect miracles and do not use me as your tool to get back at servers/server mods for personal reasons. I abhor being pulled into fandom wars and kerfluffles.
We are proud to present the full, final masterpost with links to all of the works produced for the Good Omens OTP Prompts and Mystery AU events!
Announcing the next big event from GO-Events, the GO Book Fest. Sign-ups will begin here on December 3, 2020, at 12pm EST.
Deets For this fest, you can claim a published work of the written word (in any language, and any genre) and use that as inspiration to create a new Good Omens work. AU and canon works are both fine for this event. Your book does not have to be fiction, or prose even, it just has to have been published in book form. (So, published plays are fine, books of poetry, non-fiction, etc.) It would be rad if you would stick to works that are primarily known as published, written word and not novelizations of works in other forms of art. (With the exception of stage plays that are often read in written form, such as the works of Shakespeare.)
The Fine Print A word about uniqueness of assignments: Because of the difficulty of choosing a sign-up time that isn’t massively inconvenient for some group of people in our international fandom, I prefer to make assignments non-unique by default and not based on how quickly you can fill out a form.
So, you will be asked for a first, second, and third choice on the sign-up form. In addition, you will be asked the following assignment preference question:
If another person signs up and requests the same book as my first (or possibly second) choice, I would prefer to:
As you can see, the default would be that you would sacrifice your first or possibly second choice to have a book unique to your work, regardless of how early you sign up. This seems to be the fairest to me, and was voted more fair than the alternative in a poll I ran on the GO-Events discord, so this is what we’re going with for this one.
tl;dr: Again, you can begin signing up on December 3, 2020 at 12pm EST (approximately 24 hours from when I am first posting this notice) at the form located here: https://forms.gle/tAvcV45N3Trb64Ww5

Pulling Your Leg (Pulling Your Heartstrings), a story by @ohnominamino and @autisticthassarian Crowley’s plans for The Arrangement were professional. The pranks were personal. (A look into 6000 years of how a demon and an angel show their love.) AO3 | Tumblr post
Of Broccoli and Roses (And Other Domestic Pursuits), a story by @ineffably-good and @zeckarin-blaise Our overly-accommodating heroes, each hamstrung by a complete lack of ability to communicate their feelings, hem and haw around the edges of their mutual attraction in the days after the failed apocalypse, and end up making a move that neither of them is quite prepared for. As you might surmise, things go a bit pear-shaped. Lucky they have an ace or two up their sleeves. AO3 | Tumblr post
A Star or Two Besides, a story by @fictionpenned and @a-ginger-in-black A long ocean voyage leaves a lot of time for thinking. AO3
A Special Place in Hell, a story by @mirach and @hotcrosspigeon Adam’s shift of reality made Satan disappear and the nearest immortal entity got sucked into his role. Coincidentally at that time, Aziraphale was standing a few inches closer to the former King of Hell than Crowley. AO3 | Tumblr post

Yet, If He Said He Loved Me, a story by @musegnome and @purepyracantha A 1970s theme art gala in 2020 with Anthema & Newt is a lovely idea that throws our angel & demon back into memories of a night at the bookshop they haven’t spoken about in 48 years. AO3 | Tumblr post
Fall and Rise Again, a story by @katherine1753 After the apocalypse-that-didn’t, Crowley and Aziraphale move to a cottage and spend their days in domestic bliss. The Freedom to Express, a story by @asideofourown and @miss-minnelli A dinner invitation? What business did Aziraphale have inviting him to dinner? At the Ritz, no less! Aziraphale was a lot of things, but he wasn’t stupid. He had to know what Crowley would think of this. He had to know what it would sound like. AO3
Remarkable Things, a story by @racketghost and @soft-october-night One meal, from two different perspectives. AO3 | Tumblr post

DANCE DANCE EVOLUTION, a story by @thyra279 and @aethelflaedladyofmercia “Angel, Aziraphale, there we go, just- look, the music is getting louder, which means we have to move faster, just follow my lead, it’s not that hard-” “That is most certainly not what that mea- kindly remove that hand!” AO3
Pumpkin Spice And Everything Nice (And Accurate), a story by @apocalypsenah and @a-bastard-to-be-worth-knowing Crowley and Aziraphale decide to learn about celebrating Halloween with a bit of friendly competition. Hijinks, summoning shenanigans, and eventual soft fluff ensues! AO3 | Tumblr post
A Few Thorough and Incomplete Reports by @ednav and @rosemoonweaver Crowley receives a commendation for a bad job well done, Aziraphale receives a reprimand for too many frivolous miracles, and the two wind up in Paris at the same time and in need of excuses to cover their own behinds. On the Immortality of Letters, a story by @freyjawriter24 and @lordvoldemortsnipple When a letter goes missing in the 1800s, it stands to reason that it’s lost forever. Toading, a story by @sophloph and @writingordinaryrealities “I’m pleased that we’re spending so much time together now. That we’re moving in together! It’s… momentous. But… well, clearly, I’m not quite certain how to—” “Yeah, ” Crowley said, before he could get lost in his words, “how to admit to it without getting all panicky. Got it.” He seemed to study Aziraphale for a moment, then said, “It’s weird for me, too.” AO3 | Tumblr post
Proportionate to the Offense, a story by @peppervl and @naromoreau An invitation to Adam’s Yay We Stopped the Apocalypse party tempts them both to say something, but before either of them can gather the courage, Heaven and Hell make a second attempt at punishment. Can they survive and get away to find their happily ever after? AO3 | Tumblr post
Announcing two new Good Omens fanwork events, which will run concurrently from October through December of 2020.
Event 1: OTP Prompts
For this event, you can write/draw/create for any Good Omens characters and pairings, either canon or AU, as long as you are creating from a prompt you receive from the OTP Prompts generator. Please note that you MUST get a prompt from that specific generator to use in this event.
You will need a screenshot of the prompt from OTP Prompts you wish to use, but other than that, anything goes. You can create something of any length, and you’ll only need a minimum of a first installment by your posting date in December.
The sign-up form for OTP Prompts can be found at https://forms.gle/NVsuTeq9nxvumgmq8, but it will not be open for responses until September 2, 2020 at 12 noon EST.
Event 2: MystAU
For this, you can write/draw/create anything relating to the mystery genre, using any Good Omens characters and pairings. (I’m encouraging AUs for this event for the aesthetic™ but if you want to stay in the canon universe, that’s okay too.)
This is the definition of the mystery genre we’re using for the event:
Mystery is a genre focused on a puzzling crime, situation, or circumstance that needs to be solved. The term comes from the Latin mysterium, meaning “a secret thing.” Works can be either fictional or nonfictional, and can focus on supernatural and/or non-supernatural topics. Many mystery stories involve what is called a “whodunit” scenario, meaning the mystery revolves around uncovering a culprit or criminal.
While use of a prompt generator isn’t required for MystAU, I can recommend this mystery plot generator or either of these two lists of prompts [ 1 | 2 ] if you are trying to come up with ideas.
You only need to have a rough idea of a plot/concept when you sign up, maybe 3-4 sentences max, just to give us a general idea of what you’ll be creating. As with the OTP Prompts event, you can create something of any length, and you’ll only need a minimum of a first installment by your posting date in December.
The sign-up form for MystAU can be found at https://forms.gle/QxAyUTpwe8cFboka7, but it will not be open for responses until September 2, 2020 at 12 noon EST.
If you are considering a mystery story based on an existing mystery novel but the timing of this event is rough for you, GO-Events will also be running a Book AU event at the beginning of 2021, where we’ll be creating GO fanworks based on any pre-existing published book, fiction or non-fiction, in any language.
These events are scheduled to run concurrently based on an interest survey this blog ran earlier this year, where both themes had general but not universal support, and many people who were interested in one of them had no interest in the other. That being said, if you wish to sign up for both, that is definitely allowed.
Sign-ups will begin for both events on September 2, 2020 at noon EST. Watch the GO-Events blog or follow the tag #go otp mystau to see all the updates, including a reminder when the sign-up forms go live.
The sign-up forms are now open. Hope you’ll consider joining up!
I originally planned to reblog this post when there were 24 hours left to sign up, but I entered the scheduled post information with the wrong date. :sigh: So, I’m reblogging now and extending sign-ups until tomorrow, September 10, at 12 noon EST. Hope to see you there!

oh my, i'm not caught up reading the ones i saved up from the rom com yet!
Listed in order of their posting dates, here are the works that were created for the GO Rom Com Event. They are listed with author/artist name first, then the name of their work in bold, and then (italicized and in parentheses) the name of the romantic comedy movie/book/play that their work was based on.
I cannot possibly express how much effort and love has gone into the creation of each of these works. Many of them are still ongoing, but this is your chance to get in early and soak up all the Good Omens goodness there is to be had inside every one. Please be generous with your likes, kudos, and comments, and enjoy them all with our best wishes.
@go-events will now be looking forward to our next event, the Good AUmens AU Fest. There are over 140 artists and writers who are currently at work on new creations for all of us to enjoy. Stay connected to @go-events to see all the updates, and then look forward to June, when posting for that festival will begin!
i am trying to keep up with a bunch of these, and tucking the rest of the subscription notices in an email folder for later.
Claims for the Good AUmens festival will open this Sunday, March 1, at 12 noon EST. In preparation for that, I have put together a primer and info sheet for anyone planning to make a claim for a prompt. Tumblr is fighting me on the layout I need to do this in, so I’m redirecting you to a Google Sites page here where you can learn all about what will happen when the claims window opens on Sunday. Thank you!
Reblogging to note that the form opens in just under 12 hours from when this post is reblogged. The form will be available at this link. Hit that link above before claims open to read more about how the fest will work and how to fill out the claims form. Hope to see a bunch of you come out for this; it should be really fun!
Beginning sometime in mid-March, the AU event will begin. In preparation for the claims process, I need to gauge interest for the various AU concepts that have been brainstormed up to this point (with the help of the crew at the GO Rom Com Discord, thanks pals!) so that we can make sure our claims list will have the options that participants will be excited to work with. (Written AND visual arts projects welcome!)
We’re going to be breaking the most popular concepts up into sub-themes, but before I can do that, I need to know what the most popular concepts are! That’s where you come in. If you are a likely (or even possible) participant for the AU fest, please fill out the below survey to help me create the best claims list possible. One survey per person, please, so that the results don’t get skewed.
Reblogging for visibility! If you’re thinking of joining us for the AU Fest for Good Omens this coming March-June, you probably want to weigh in on this one. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time. <3
