oh, i gotta rec one of my favorite stories in this fandom, it's a little bit different, john gets hired by the holmes family to look after sherlock and mycroft as children, and he meets greg lestrade, and there's shades of HOUN and anyway it's absolutely wonderful.

there was a blog that continued the story, not sure if that is still up, but if it is, it's also wonderful. this is the main story, there are also some shorter ones in the series, it's all good.

That would be Ain't Seen the Sunshine (Since I Don't Know When) by emungere, and it's well worth a read!

yes! this is one of my all time favorite fics in this fandom, i have re read it many times! there are some followup stories in the set, and there might still be the blog, i haven't looked that up in a while, but it continued the story for a long time. top shelf.

this one could be an illustration for the nanny 'verse stories, where john and lestrade look after sherlock (age 6) and mycroft (11??) together for sherlock's mum.

i think i first registered that there was this thing called cabin pressure, and eventually that it was a radio drama on the bbc, via the blogs associated with the john and lestrade characters from the fic, "aint seen the sunshine", which i can look up the link to if anyone wants it. it's the first story in the nanny 'verse series. after reading all the stories on ao3, i went to the blogs, and read them side by side from the beginning, and every so often there would be discussion in the comments about new cabin pressure. i'm not sure how i first got to listen to it though.

That’s my secret ship, I love the idea of John and Lestrade as well, two BAMFs! in Sherlock’s life, sharing some kind of connection, it kinda makes sense to me :D
