Bradley’s POV

I had been back at work for my first week of the full 12-hour shifts. In the morning I would go to training and go through the vigorous exercises to help my body get ready to withstand Gs again. I had been working on breathing techniques for the first week. It was hard because my abdomen was still healing. I knew I had to take it slow, but also put my 100% effort into it. Next week I would continue to work on my breathing because I failed the breathing maneuvers practice test. It really discouraged me, but I thought about you and the kids. I knew I had to just trust the process. 

I came home from the last day of training for me for the week. I was beyond tired. I would go to training, then do some paperwork for my officers, go back out to the tarmac to instruct for flying, go back and do more paperwork, meet with each of my LTs to get them up to par with codes and protocols, train some more, then push more paperwork. Being a senior officer was tough and tiring. I’ve never had to do so much instruction and paperwork in my career with the Navy.

Austin and Phoenix came in through the front door with bags of groceries. Leia was in the backyard running around with Gunner. Hangman and I were sitting on the couch with the boys. Hangman was hunched over Little Bradley on the couch while he was laying in his lap. He was playing peek-a-boo with him. Even though baby boy had no idea what was going on. I’m pretty sure his eyes were closed 98% of the time Bagman was playing with him. 

“Sup guys,” Austin called over and nodded his head at Hangman and me as he placed some grocery bags onto the counter. 

I nodded and waved back over to him. “What’s up, Aus. Phoenix my girl, my favorite wing-woman. Thank you for doing y/n and I a solid this morning and cleaning up for us.” She came over and grabbed my hand and placed a kiss on my knuckles.

You could hear Bradley’s back crack as he stretched out before picking up his son. 

Oh goodness Jake Thomas 😂😂 you’re gonna have to get over that diaper changing fear cause your babies are on their way 🫣

Over the next week, some of the days and nights, not all of them, it was rough. It seemed like anytime Bradley had fallen asleep or taken a nap he would succumbed to his dreams. He would wake up in a panic or wake up yelling. After his nightmares he would feel so defeated, he would cry and apologize to you endlessly. You felt horrible that your husband was going through it. You just wanted to take away his pain. All you could do was reassure him he was okay and it would get better. It was normal for this to be happening, he went through something traumatic. You’d be worried if he didn’t act this way. You continued to comfort and care for him day in and day out. You would do anything for him. He was everything to you. 

You were in the kitchen making snacks for everyone. Leia and Mav were outside playing in the backyard with Gunner. Phoenix and Hangman were gone at work. Austin was on the couch with Bradley playing video games. Bradley really started to confide in Austin about his troubles. He said it was easier to talk to someone that didn’t know anything about the military. It was easier to talk about everything instead of having to feel he had to hide some parts of it. Austin was happy to be someone that Bradley could confide in and help.

You nodded, “Okay. I miss him. He’s there, but he feels so far away.” You looked down at your belly and gave it a rub. 

Austin placed his hand on your belly with yours, “He’s going to pull through. I know it, but I understand how you feel. Just know we are all here to support and take care of you, Bradley, Leia, and the boys.” 

You looked at him and started to tear up, “Thank you, Austin.” He wiped the tears rolling down your cheeks, “I haven’t seen her yet, Aus.” Your lip quivered.

The next morning, Phoenix and I were up early. We had loaded our duffles and uniforms into Hangman’s truck. After we went to go meet with Phantom at his house for morning coffee. We went over a couple of things that needed to be done and discussed new route changes. 

Phantom sighed, “It looks like this week's going to be a little different. There will be many more heads going out on the boat. So instead of me being on land. I will be joining both of you later. I’ll be on the boat these next two weeks as well.”

I’m not mad... I just wanna talk

Phantom pulled away from me, “This stays between us for now. It is Leia’s Day. We celebrate her today and we celebrate you Sunday.”

I furrowed my brows, “Sunday, sir?” 

He nodded, “We have arrangements for the ceremony on Sunday. Some of our other officers will be re-ranking to their new positions and we want to ensure everyone is squared away before heading onto the boat Monday night.”

And Leia yelling at the top of her lungs for her daddy just warms my heart and then her being encouraged by Phantom to try and dislocate her dad's shoulders 🤣
