I have my own very odd story thing but I definitely love it. In this alternate universe story based on FC 6, some events went off. José Castillo eventually rises to power and becomes El Presidente. In 2021, following the sudden and tragic death of Anton Castillo, José steps into the leadership role. Diego, Anton's son, disappears (he's not dead in my story), leading many to speculate whether he was truly "missing" or if José had a hand in ensuring his absence to claim the throne for himself. After the death of Clara Garcia, Libertad is also weakened and the rebels are going through a difficult time.
José's ascent to power marks a turning point for Yara. Having previously overseen the violent system of slave labor and the production of Viviro, José’s regime took these practices to a new, higher level. Those who spoke out were sent to labor camps or executed without trial, a continuation of his earlier policies but now carried out on a national scale.
Under his reign, Yara became an even more oppressive regime than before. Viviro production intensified, with the island’s natural resources and people exploited even more harshly in the name of progress and wealth. José's cruelty knew no bounds, and his unchecked ambition led him to mirror the very authoritarianism and ruthlessness his uncle, Anton, had displayed — if not worse. Despite the growing resistance against his rule, José believed that his death grip on Yara was the only way to maintain control, convinced that his violence and fear-mongering were the keys to forging a stronger nation.
His actions only deepened the people's resentment, setting the stage for Yara's continued struggle between freedom and tyranny. Again and again.
I have quite an extensive story describing the alternate events and how José got to this point, and there are also characters I included in the story (say hello to self-insert!), but… not now.
