So tired of the Zending being characterized as Stanley unjustly taking away the Narrator’s happiness when it's also his fault for trapping Stanley in there and expecting him to put his life aside so the Narrator can be happy.

ZENDING IS NOT ABOUT 👏 THE NARRATOR'S MISERY, THERE'S MANY WAYS TO INTERPRET THE ZENDING BUT THAT AIN'T IT !!!!!!

if we're to take the narrator's words during zending at face value, he quite literally expects stanley to remain in that room forever, to " stop moving, " because that's what he thinks is best for both of them ( mostly himself, evident by stanley's actions & his responses to it ), which is a PRETTY HEFTY ASKING PRICE for we - the player - &, if you interpret stanley as more than a vessel for the player, a person trapped in a situation like that.

there is no other out BUT for stanley to throw himself off the balcony enough times until he's dead & cause the game to reset, which is BEYOND cruel. the narrator left him / you with NO other option; its his way or the cold pavement off a 50ft ( or w/e ) jump, & if the narrator HAD it his way - you wouldn't even have the freedom of that kind of choice. a few jumps into it show that stanley is obviously injured, which the narrator doesn't seem concerned about beyond the miraculous fact he did NOT die from the impact, or the threat of having whatever " happiness " or " freedom " he's seemed to find beneath the starry dome; hypothetically stopping at that point is even crueler given the implications, he HAS to continue until he breaks himself apart & dies.

yes, yes - the narrator's just as trapped as stanley is, whether he thought sacrificing both of their virtual free will ( or stanley's rather, given the narrator Obviously has far more power ) would save them both is a tragic concept, but ultimately doesn't paint the narrator as the victim, or at least not wholly. this rule goes for the MAJORITY of the events of the stanley parable. it's all just a bunch of fucked up happenings to these two guys that Want Some Form of Control, over each other, over themselves - nobody's at fault & they are also the fault of everything, but it's Not the type of game where you can just blame a single one of them for the other's misfortune.

I would also like to point out the fact that the dialogue in this ending reflects the unfairness of it as The Narrator constantly disregards how Stanley may or may not feel about the whole thing.

Babes he is trying to shift the focus onto himself! He is manipulative and self-serving, whether intentionally or not. I think I actually feel happy, don't take this from me, is this really how much you hate my game— he is trying to make you feel bad, to guilt you into staying, because that's what he wants.

Tbh the more you play TSP the more you get the inexplicable impression that the office building was created by an entity with a very surface-level understanding of what an office building is supposed to be. The place is basically screaming ‘I am a normal location in a normal world where normal human people do Work and Jobs and am definitely not suspended someplace abstract and outside of time at all!’ at you and expecting you to believe it. What jobs do people do in office buildings? Well, they… they push buttons on keyboards! The meeting room is full of details that tell you exactly nothing about what kind of office building this is (other than the fact that somebody named Chris was, at one point, in the broom closet).

The Stanley Parable office building is in the uncanny valley for places.
