So Kim Rhodes said a super awesome thing at AHBL and I wanted to share it with my fellow Sam + Jody BroTP friend. But then I couldn’t remember who that was. But I think all the Sam Fam will find it interesting!
Someone said to Brianna and Kim that it seems like Jody has more of a bond or connection with Sam, and Donna has maybe connected with Dean a bit more and asked for their thoughts on that.
Kim said that Jody absolutely has a closer bond with Sam. Jody loves Dean, but she said it’s important to remember that when they first met, Sam killed Jody’s son. They were together in that awful tragic situation, and that forms a bond in itself. But Jody knew what had to happen and Sam saved her from having to kill her own child. However necessary it was, it still isn’t something anyone should ever have to go through, and Sam protected Jody from having to do that.
And as Kim says, that is something that forges a really strong bond between two people. She and Sam are always going to have that.
I really love that analysis. While I have always believed that Jody has a special soft spot for Sam (and what with them being my BroTP), I never made that connection before. It absolutely makes sense to me, and I’m sure that’s something both Kim and Jared have understood and brought into their performance of Jody and Sam.
There was also talk between Brianna and Kim about something they actually had recently discussed. As a duo, Jody and Donna to some extent parallel Dean and Sam. Jody’s older, she can have a gruff or reserved manner, she gets protective. Donna is younger, an optimist and maybe forgives people a little too easily. (Not sure I’d equate Jody’s protective nature with Dean’s idea of protection, but I’m definitely in the minority.)
Because they’re parallels, perhaps they’re each more naturally drawn to the opposite side. I think that’s interesting too. But what I’m mainly excited about was what Kim said. It was my absolute favourite thing said yesterday. (Apart from Brianna complimenting tiny!Sam. Twice. :D)
Gonna tag some folks I think might appreciate it as much as I do:
