40 days of prayer for abortion meetings must cause us to look inward

Prayer works so Planned Parenthood has decided to copy 40 Days for Life and start its own 40 prayer meeting—for abortion. Six Rivers Planned Parenthood in Humboldt, CA has decided to hold a literal 40 day prayer period for reproductive rights and abortion. Mixing faith in God with sacrificing babies at the altar of a suction machine, the site says:

“We trust you to decide about your sexuality, having your children, and planning your family.”

Here’s the inherent and obvious problem with this statement: “We trust you.” What does faith have to do with trusting me? If I trusted myself to do everything right, my faith would be in the god of my intellectual stimulation and humanistic idolatry. We have sacrificed faith in God for faith in ourselves and called ourselves god.

Please read their statement carefully. If you read it in context with the call to prayer for abortion and to trust women, it actually implies we have godlike powers to know when we should reproduce, create and live. We have taken the power of creation from the Creator.

Folks, this is not surprising. The Bible warned us years ago of this false godliness and deception:

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2 For men will be lovers of self, …holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these. 6 For among them are those who enter into households and captivate weak women weighed down with sins, led on by various impulses, 7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (3:1,2, 5 -8)

The Bible warns us that people will pass themselves off as purveying godliness, not only that the ungodly will come. The Clergy for Choice group says:

We are religious leaders who value all human life. We accept that religions differ about when life begins. We are here to help. We believe that human life is holy. That’s why we believe in your right to choose to be a parent or not.

Double minded theology isn’t the theology of Jesus. The idea that religions differ on when life begins is irrelevant because God has made us from before our creation in the womb. To acknowledge that we get to decide when life begins puts us in the role of God, and that’s idolatry.

However, this story which is making news today isn’t actually new. The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC) has been spouting these ideas for a long time, and if you take a look, the RCRC is one of the Planned Parenthood links. Many churches take part in these efforts including traditional denominations such as the United Methodists (UMC), whose leadership is a part of the RCRC and also participating in the 40 Days for abortion “prayer” meetings.   Recently I went to watch October-baby and I must say that I was impressed! I didn’t think that a low budget Christian movie would be able to get good actors and quality cameras but they managed it. The movie was very well directed with a plotline that was both moving and compelling. The actors all did excellent jobs and managed to carry you through the pain and joys of a young girl who finds out she was a failed abortion. The movie doesn’t go ahead and tell you that Abortion is wrong but rather quietly and gently carries you though the story constantly showing you the detrimental effect abortion can have on a person’s life. The movie doesn’t stop at only showing you the negative effects of abortion but proceeds to show how God can take that awful experience and turn it into a blessing. However the most outstanding thing wasn’t the actors or the well recorded scenes but rather the fact that it’s a true story! The movie October-Baby is based on a true story!

I won’t spoil the movie by telling you all the details but I encourage you to find a theater near you and watch it!

The amount of Mammograms Planned Parenthood Does each year Absolutely Zero!

Susan G. Komen Founder and CEO Nancy G. Brinker takes on the harsh accusations in this new video. Since the release that Komen's new policies cannot allow Planned Parenthood funding, Planned Parnethood has lashed out with venom at Komen. Brinker take the high but firm road and addresses the truth. The most important and notable line here is this:

"We want to provide to the provider who is actually performing the mammogram."

Planned Parenthood doesn't do this. Other places do. It's not a violation of women's rights or a lack of care. Sending money directly to mammogram providers rather than referral centers eliminates the middle man and helps some women get mammograms even faster--and still free of charge because of Komen's help.
