Did I say thank goodness for safety nets....? :)

My wise friend Dennis advised me to do (at least) one fun thing a week as I went through the tricky time that inspired these drawings.

Thank you to him, and everyone who drank cups of tea with me, visited museums and gardens, walked the dog, danced, drank cocktails, came to the cinema or out to lunch....  You know who you are and you are awesome.

I am very lucky to have amazing friends and family to help me out when I wobble, and I also found some wonderful organisations to help too.  I'm a big fan of To Write Love on Her Arms, a US-based charity, and wear one of their Re-Blog t shirts as a lucky charm.  On it is written:

You’ll need coffee shops and sunsets and road trips. Airplanes and passports and new songs and old songs, but people more than anything else. You will need other people and you will need to be that other person to someone else, a living, breathing screaming invitation to believe better things.

I listened to a lot of different music when I was drawing these pictures, and 'Let Go' by Frou Frou feels very appropriate for today's image.

I've made a Spotify playlist with some of those songs to accompany the story here.

Happy summer solstice!

Today I start sharing an image a day from ‘Dive Down’ - my new illustrated story.

It’s a story about personal growth and finding myself and it feels amazing to be sharing it with you.

You can find more about it on my website here, where there is also a list of inspiring resources for anyone else on their own personal deep sea diving mission, as well as an uplifting Spotify playlist featuring Florence and the Machine, Patrick Wolf, Björk, Bat for Lashes and Passenger, to name but a few.

At the end of the story will be some exciting news about where the project is going next and how you can get involved.

Do reblog images and comment and let me know what you think as we go along - I’d love to hear from you :)
