World After? More like World Without Raffe for far too long
I joke, but not really. I won’t give a brief synopsis of World After specifically because I don’t want to spoil anything that happened in Angelfall for those that haven’t read it yet.
But as a whole the series is about Penryn, a sassy teenager with martial arts experience (she has a black belt in kicking ass, true story) whose sister is taken by angels. Oh and did I mention the angels took over the world and forced all the humans into hiding? No? Well yah, that happens. These aren’t the cherubs painted on the Sistine Chapel, no these angels are “harbingers of doom”.
Enter Raphael. Raffe. Adonis. Sex on legs. Whatever you want to call him. His wings are cut off his back in battle and that’s only the beginning of our little duo’s journey. These two little shits pair up to save Penryn’s sister and get Raffe’s wings sewn back on (because what’s an archangel without his wings? Nothing but an incredibly sexy, impossibly lightweight, and frustratingly sassy man) and flirtation ensues. Not that Raffe’s into Daughters of Men, because he is a total Debbie Downer and rule-follower (hopefully not for long).
