Sonic and Tails are the Unbreakable Bond. But Shadow and Rouge have a bond of their own.
BOTH of their last words???? HELLO????
“They’re retconning Shadow’s backstory, why is Emerl there??? He’s not supposed to be there?? That’s wrong???”
So what I’m gathering from that is some of y’all just don’t actually know shit about Sonic Battle and Shadow’s story in that game huh,,,
The Chaos Emeralds amplify the ability of Chaos Control (to the point where all 7 together can warp an entire comet, as seen in Shadow the Hedgehog (2005)), however the actual ability itself seems to be tied to a positive mindset and "behavior".
This is consistent with the several instances of Chaos Control observed in the series that did not rely on the power of a Chaos Emerald.
I'm actually super confused about Shadow in Forces. Maybe it's because I've only seen the "softer" parts of Shadow (and endless fanon ngl), but the implication that Shadow took out Infinite's crew always put me off, like it's not something he'd do. But, maybe it IS something he'd do and I've been poisoned by soft Shadow fanon
It's complicated.
Shadow being cut-throat is pretty much a part of his character since Day 1. Like a good foil, he's similar to Sonic in his dogged focus and unwavering sense of self but is far more willing to cut through others in his way, even if they're not his target.
But notice the slight hesitation in speech when Sonic put himself between him and Emerl? Shadow being willing to finish a perceived threat doesn't mean he always ENJOYS it. And there's logic to WHY he's doing this, which ends up being justified by the end of the game when Emerl goes crazy.
If Shadow gets serious, it's not without reason.
He's definitely grown as a character since this game, but that part of him is still there.
This isn't to put down fanon enjoyers or anything. Stuff like that is pretty excusable as just people having fun and whatnot. It's only an issue when, as you've experienced, people get so saturated in a false idea of a character that them acting normal and in line with who they are in official media might be jarring if you're not familiar with it.
Is it brutal? Sure. But did Infinite's crew have it coming? Considering they were on Eggman's side and abiding his evil plans, Shadow had no reason to see them as anything other than fodder to fight through to get to his real target.
That being said, it's not wrong to say there IS softness in him. At the end of Forces, the guy's smiling and even hangs out in headquarters with everyone (even if it's him leaning on the wall away from everyone and acting disinterested).
It's why he's such a popular character. He looks harsh and sharp with how he carries himself but there's depth under all that.
In Sonic Battle (2003), Cream the Rabbit's healing ability is described as working through "pureness of heart."
Some describe Shadow as soft around the edges...
I'd say that's accurate. :)
Several of Shadow the Hedgehog's moves in Sonic Battle (2003) involve him using Chaos Control to create pockets of "distorted space." While this ability is mostly used for offensive purposes, Shadow is also able to safely shield himself in these pockets.
Healing ‘Sonic Battle’
people be beating the shit out of each other in her own room and amy is just chilling there like “please god give me strength”
Amy’s heal skill description states that she regains HP by thining about Sonic. So it’s more like “Please Sonic give me strength.” :D
According to Professor Gerald's journals in Sonic Battle, Emerl was called "Gizoid" because in the ancient tongue of what he calls the "Fourth Great Civilization" where which he was found, the word means "Everything." This is in reference to a stone tablet, likely referring to Emerl, but not confirmed.
I love these look how giddy he looks to use his big freaking gun
Look at the ears
Incredible
Shadow the Hedgehog doesn't have time to play games with Sonic.
As well as enjoying it as a past time, Sonic the Hedgehog also regularly utilizes break dancing in combat scenarios.
