When did Vegeta become Super Saiyan 2?

I saw someone saying that Vegeta needed Babidi's help to reach SSJ2. And honestly, the thought never occurred to me. I always figured that Vegeta had spent the seven years after Cell on that, but I guess we don't know for sure.

So, I'm curious about others' opinion on this.

I'm not sure exactly. I think it's entirely possible if not likely but also he definitely still has the SSJ2 transformation afterwards:

(At least if we assume that "cool bolts of lightning" = SSJ2)

During the 7 year gap

When Goku briefly goes SS2 for a moment to defeat Yakon, Vegeta says to himself “so Kakarot has gone beyond Super Saiyan as well” or something along those lines.

And yeah the “as well” can mean Gohan but I think it makes more sense talking about himself. And even when he transforms to fight Goku its like he knows how to do it, it’s not presented as a first time transformation

#these are the reasons why I never considered that it could've been babidi's power boost#vegeta had seven years to reach ssj2. why shouldn’t he have done so?
