ive fought too hard protecting myself to give up now 👍
From my sketchbook, for this art I used watercolors and sakura liners
a man from a video game can make you feel shrimp emotions….
Saw this on Twitter and I obligatory need to share it
So she actually said that she does not see the appeal in Senshi at all and that the panty shots weren't intended to be horny - she just has a neighbor who looks kind of like him and does laundry in his underwear. Which she finds kind of weird and offputting, and put into his character to be funny.
But that's the thing. She doesn't exaggerate or grotesqueify or alter people's bodies to fit some standard. (Except insofar as she draws different species differently, and those are exquisitely practiced to ensure they have the same diversity of appearances that humans do.) She just presents people exactly as they are, complexities and oddities and all.
It just so happens that when you present people exactly as they are, what you present will be beautiful and alluring to many. Even the things you yourself might find weird and offputting. Honestly I think it's a touching example of how you don't have to see the beauty in everyone for the beauty to be there, simple honesty is enough to let the wonder of people's humanity shine through.
#i think we should put this post next to the interview where she said she doesn't want to eat the food in the series cuz she's a picky eater#and file them both under 'you don't know an artist from their work'#and maybe you don't need to!#maybe all you need to know is that ryoko kui is Good At What She Does#idk I don't like the implication that artists (and women especially?) can only create from personal life and feelings#some people have imagination and craft#kind of a tangent but. there you go.
no but you're very correct
im seeing a lot of "queer people dont kill yourselves" posts and yes, i agree but also poc folks dont kill yourselves. you're needed in this space just as much as the white folks are. we will get through this hand in hand together
people getting mad at this post have missed the point entirely. believe it or not, not every poc is queer!! and whether you guys have intended to or not, poc are frequently excluded from conversations just like this!! and this post proves it b/c as soon as i mentioned poc people got all up in arms!! the point of this post was to point that out!! my god!! poc are going to be affected the worst!! you need to especially keep them in your thoughts regardless of if they're queer or not!!!
everyone says join your local mutual aid groups and build community, but uh, what do you do if a lot of them seem to have dissolved and the other ones don't have consistent recurring meetings.
this is real, and it's a thing that a lot of people are going to run into in the fact of calls to "get involved," especially if they're people who haven't been deeply involved in their communities before. so here's what I can share:
Grieve AND organize.
Good article by David Hunter on how to survive the Trump presidency, both on the personal and on the political plane.
This is an excellent article. It talks about the psychology of tyranny, the history of resistance and the paths we have to take to rescue each other and recover.
Point #4 especially.
if you're waking up like me thinking "where do we even go from here?"
you:
you get to feel all the despair you want in this moment. but tomorrow morning you have to get up and resume the work. pick any of the above options. come up with your own meaningful ways to connect with the people around you so you all have support, no matter what happens in the future. give yourself something good to work towards.
answering a couple questions i got on this post since i realized ppl genuinely wanna know:
tl;dr:
the post linked above has examples of how donating to individual families can help a lot. if you want to help more than one family at a time, there are many gazan-led initiatives focusing on rebuilding their infrastructure and distributing aid fairly that are worth donating to instead of large charities that already get the majority of donations.
as i mentioned in the last post: @/careforgaza on twitter is a nonprofit started by gazans, it's been endorsed by multiple palestinian journalists.
the sameer project is a collective organized by diaspora palestinians offering emergency shelter to gazans.
ele elna elak is a project aiming to bring water, food, shelter, etc. to gazans and has been promoted by bisan owda.
all of these organizations are active inside gaza right now and are being run by gazans. if anyone knows of other gazan-led mutual aid projects, nonprofits or charities feel free to link them in the notes! hope this helped!
long answers under the cut!
plugging gaza soup kitchen for those with the means to donate! it's another gazan-led initiative currently providing food, water, classes for children, and medical care across the north and south. you can donate through their website or their gofundme, or follow them on instagram for news about their projects

esims are low again. check out connecting humanity for more information on directly sending esims or for a linked to crips for esims for gaza's fundraising. you can also set up a recurring donation on chuffed for esims. i have a weekly donation here because being able to keep as many people as possible connected to the rest of the world is critical for documenting the situation and allowing individuals to continue their own grassroots fundraising/organizing
afaf’s campaign is verified by operation olive branch on line 45 of their spreadsheet. the family has a presence on several other social media platforms as well such as instagram, if you would like more information.
this tiktok does a good job of summing up the family’s situation. the nursery pictured used to be the biggest nursery in gaza city, the main source of the family’s income and afaf put immense hard work and care into it until it was destroyed by the war. i can’t imagine how devastating it must be to see your entire livelihood destroyed like that.
please donate and share if you can.
