Ok, my main tag for important things/things that catch my eye is #Saint's Archives, which replaces my #tagging so I don't lose this tag, but not completely. There's still a bunch of things I haven't re-tagged from because I didn't have the attention span, so if you want to search for important stuff, keep those two tags in mind.

Google will search for your text on just tumblr

In my experience, it’s way more effective than searching through Tumblr

(you can use site:SITENAME.com to search any site btws)

This usually works but for some reason a lot of posts get indexed on google from a person’s URL based on the posts that were recently reblogged on page 1, meaning that this is only a tiny bit more reliable.

I HAVE a solution to this, you have to write down site:tumblr.com/post “ “

and then write a direct quote (could be a fraction of a sentence) into the quotations, I’ve been doing this for years, and it’s so useful, it works like 99% of the time 

(the more popular a post is the more likely you’ll find it)

Friendly reminder that GIMP does pretty much everything Photoshop does, and it’s 100% free. Fuck DRM and the license culture, we have plenty of open source options available to us as a consumer.

If Adobe is going to be greedy shitheads, then fuck ‘em. Don’t use their stuff. Freeware can be just as good, if not better, than Adobe CC.

- Medibang Paint and Fire Alpaca for more cartoon style illustration

- Krita for painting

- Clip Studio Paint (not free, but often on sale and cheap even at full price) is better than PS for art and I’m about to cut adobe entirely. Even does some photo editing.

- Paint Tool SAI (again, not free but cheap) old but good, there’s a ton of hacked copies around too. Not hard to get for free.

- Open Tunez for animation.

I’m currently using Affinity Photo and it’s a great Photoshop alternative. One time fee only and it’s not really expensive, plus supports PSD formats. Free trial available too! Davinci Resolve for video editing is amazing as well! :)

I work Adobe free. Clip Studio Paint does just about anything any Photoshop or Illustrator could, Davinci Resolve is easier to use than Premiere and just as useful. Adobe can eat shit.

For my non uk followers wondering wtf is going on:

This first thing I thought when I woke up from surgery was I am so hungry and I need ramen right now! but the second thing I thought was Oh my god, I'm safe.

I was safe.

I thought about having kids someday, but the thought was always divorced from the concept of having to grow them in my body. Whenever I thought about it, I would either start screaming or my mind would shut down. My worst nightmares featured discovering I was pregnant, and realizing I would have to keep it, and go through childbirth. I was terrified.

I got the surgery, and realized I was safe, and I never had those nightmares ever again. It was like finding out I was bulletproof.

Later, I looked at the broken condom, and I didn't see my life flash before my eyes. I didn't see my hopes and dreams turn to ash as I pivoted all my energy into a child I didn't want. I didn't see a possibility of starvation or homelessness because my already modest income went to a child I couldn't afford. I didn't see my disabled body becoming further disabled, or killed, by a pregnancy that I didn't want.

Can I just say what's on my mind and make a point real quick? It's random (like my previous 20 original posts) but it needs to be said.

Recommending to victims the importance of self defense is NOT victim blaming. It's recommending they learn the steps they can take to avoid being hurt again.

This is the entire reason why self defense classes exist, so you can get out of a dire situation in case someone tries to hurt you. It's not there to say "well you should have just-", no, it's not there to shame victims.

I remember seeing a post saying "why teach women self defense? That's victim blaming!" It's not and never has been. The world is awful, and you need to protect yourselves against anyone who'd try to harm you.

"Teach MEN not to-", just shut the fuck up. Being an asshole isn't a gendered issue, it's a humanity issue. There are evil people in this world, and sometimes you have no one but yourself to save you. THAT'S WHY THERE ARE SELF DEFENSE CLASSES.

In short, don't fucking tell victims they're being shamed for seeking out self defense. That's more harmful to the victims than anything.

They’ve found the cause of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Babies who die of SIDS have a significantly lower level of an enzyme, the purpose of which is to rouse the baby from sleep if necessary (such as the baby stops breathing). This is extremely huge science and medicine news. There is a biological reason. It’s not random.

Dr. Carmel Harrington, the lead researcher for the study, was one of these parents. Her son unexpectedly and suddenly died as an infant 29 years ago. In an interview with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), Harrington explained what she was told about the cause of her child’s death.

"Nobody could tell me. They just said it's a tragedy. But it was a tragedy that didn't sit well with my scientific brain.”

Since then, she’s worked to find the cause of SIDS, both for herself and for the medical community as a whole. She went on to explain why this discovery is so important for parents whose babies suffered from SIDS.

"These families can now live with the knowledge that this was not their fault," she said.
