I’ve just finished a full rewatch of Crystal in preparation for next year’s film and gosh, I can’t believe I forgot that the Italian dub openly referenced a Dragon Ball meme. I don’t know whether I find this more hilarious or annoying.
Well, tomorrow is the gret day when we either get a date for PGSM Crystal Season IV or we all get crippling depression and refuse to leave our room. However, I shan’t be able to comment on the news very soon, since I’m having an exam at university very soon, so please be patient in the unprobable case you’re dying to know my opinion on the subject! Truth to be told, after I’ve closed this session, I don’t even plan to open Chrome at all before the 5th of July or so, in order to prevent these distractions from getting at me. This blog will run on queue until then, so see you next week!
On a downer note, then, next week I also plan to take courage with my hands and finally do a thorough control of this blogs’ followers, since I’m tired of creepy people coming at me. They’re all getting blocked and reported, that’s all my saying.
[Completely off-topic post warning!]
In case we happen to have got some different fandoms in common, I wrote a comment of Hugh Jackman’s concert on my main. You can find the post here: https://usaghinanami99.tumblr.com/post/185521403073. Sorry for the intrusion, now back on posting Sailor Moon art!
My dear readers, I’m sorry for having gone missing for the last days... incidentally going so far as skipping Rei’s birthday! I considered leaving Tumblr permanently because of how much of a toxic environment it is, but I also think one should always finished what they’ve started, so I’m not going anywhere until this blog is full of all the artoworks by Naoko Takeuchi that I can find; and, even then, I’d simply log off my account, ‘cause I’d never do something so coward like deleting. Anyway, I’m sorry for the lack of new content on this blog during this time, but I promise I’ll start working on my queue in a few days... though I may consider slowing the posting rhythm of the queue down. Now I’m going to reply to all the unanswered messages, so please forgive me for not answering to you right away!
Alas, today was the day: as announced, Sailor Drops officially closed this morning. The game will be dearly missed by all its fans, and I want to use this occasion to send a big “thank you” to @sailorsoapbox and @mintymoondrops for all they’ve done for us with their wonderful datamining operation. I hope Bandai Namco will surprise us with a Sailor Moon RPG for the 3DS, hopefully a Crystal-related one! I’m definitely crossing my fingers for that.
I’ve changed my icon accordingly, since it’s now useless to publicly show my support for Drops this way ;(
Bro omg what who is this person?? And what did they even say?
Sorry, I don’t think I should expose his username publicly, but it’s not actually for something he told me directly. Rather, I was looking through the profiles of my most recent followers to see if there were any pornbots to block, when I saw this man’s blog. After giving a glance to what type of content he posts, I messaged him directly to ask him why he would ever want to follow my blog, to which he answered that Sailor Moon is deeply entangled with sadism (???) and all the other kind of misogynistic bs that I shan’t repeat because we know it all too well by now; just, you know, it was not the old style right-wing misogyny, but the new, woke misogyny according to which a woman being enslaved may not be enrooted in nature, but it’s actually *empowering*… just left-wing misogyny, that is. After such a response, I obviously blocked him. Well, here is this sad story.
PS: It’s “sis”, not “bro” ;)
Hell, that obnoxious anon has kept on tormenting me by sending a total of different asks overnight. I just wanted to tell her/him that she/he has been noticed (since she/he seems to crave so much for attention) and will be properly answered in a few hours time. I also wanted to thank @tiny012 for the great addition she made to my previous answer to this person.
As you may have noticed, I have changed my icon to show my support for Drops, and I intend to keep it this way at least until the app’s definitive shutdown. Now, I wouldn’t normally announce a mere change of avatar with a full-fledged post, but in this case I have to thank the amazing @sailorsoapbox for providing the picture. Check out her blog, everyone!
I find all this really incredible. Yesterday Toei released their financial reports, and in the 9 month period between April and December 2018, Sailor Moon made them a revenue of about 7 million dollars... Precure made them something like 12-15 million dollars, and it had TWO movies.
Yep, Pretty Cure has been going non-stop since 2004 with 52 episodes and *two* films a year; not direct-to-video films, but ones for the cinema. The truth is that Toei employs their EVERYTHING for its three main series (Dragon Ball, One Piece and Pretty Cure), while leaving all the others in the development hell we know of. Personally speaking, I really wish Naoko/PNP had sold the rights to make a new anime to a more serious if slightly less sucessful company, like Tokyo Movie Shinsha or Oriental Light & Magic.
Welp. As many of you know by now, the mobile game Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Drops is going to be closed permanently on the 28th of March, after three years and a half of activity. Of course I am sad at the news, but actually my main mood about this stuff is more like being royally pissed off… I mean, both Kodansha, Toei Doga and Bandai are currently treating Sailor Moon fandom like shit, and I’m more than a bit annoyed by that.
To further elaborate on this point, let’s see how every incarnation of Sailor Moon is going as of now in terms of announcements and new releases in general. The live-action series is obviously excluded, since it ended in 2004 and no one expects it to be revived. Here’s how I would rank the current Sailor Moon media from least to most active during the last few years, or at least that’s how I would have done it until yesterday:
5) The manga: Of course this must be the least active medium because it ended in 1997, add to that the fact that we’ve just had a deluxe re-release (the kanzenban was published in 2013/2014), but what irks me is another thing. It’s that an updated re-release for the first three artbooks was officially announced to be delivered during the year of the series’ 25th anniversary. For those who haven’t noticed, 2017 ended and no other news about the book have been dropped. Oh, and I know this is probably of close to no interest to many of you, but I’m also quite annoyed because the kanzenban edition was announced by the manga’s Italian publisher two years ago, and guess who still has to see any further news about this?
4) Crystal: This medium is more or less in stasis currently, with the fact that the Season IV films were announced in Summer 2017... now, I’m not complaining about the fact that they haven’t been released yet, since I know how much long it takes to complete a feature animation film, what I really cannot stand is the fact that we haven’t been given anything in the meantime. Nothing: not a main visual, not a teaser trailer, not a planned release date. That’s just disrespectful towards the fans.
3) The old anime: ...Absurd as it is, this is actually more active than the new anime. Obviously not in terms of actual new material, but it should be noted that 1) at this point, the amount of new merch that’s being released for this series is almost unbelievable, especially for one that ended in 1997 and 2) may I remind you of the two different times in the last two years that songs from this anime spun an actual classical concert complete with world tour and merchandise? Just to add to this, I know it seems incredible but the official site has just shared an announcement about the upcoming release of the SuperS season in Blue-Ray Disc... while the DVD boxes of the whole series are still available. Who are they trying to toy with? Who fucking needs Blue-Rays anyway? And why would one ever think of releasing an HD remaster of a show so ugly-looking that it’s just going to do more bad than good to itself?
2) Sera Myu: This one has been going steadily since its revival in 2013, with a new musical a year and each of them subsequently released on DVD; it may be a bit underwhelming for older fans who were used to having two or even three new musicals each year during the 1993-2005 era, but I’m surely not one to complain. We shoul also consider that the last two musicals also featured different teams of main actresses (two for NoghiMyu and even three for the Super Live!), which means that it’s almost like we had two or three full musicals to watch, lol. In short, definitely not complaining about this one, especially if it keeps the writing quality of the Noghizaka46 myu (I still have to watch the latest one, though, since I’m waiting for the subs).
1) Videogames: As I said, this is were I’d have ranked the medium until yesterday, but I think it’s still fair to keep Drops in this position until when it’s really shut down, which means that we’ve got two full months of time to see where this is going. Actually, as we know, there’s currently only one Sailor Moon game available, and it’s not even a real videogame, as much as a free-to-play mobile phone app with optional purchases, but what can I say? It’s not only incredibly fun and full of characters to collect, but its artstyle is just so freaking cute and adorable that it’s difficult not to love this game even knowing that it is little more than Candy Crush in space! with Sailor Warriors! The reason why I rank it first in terms of activity is because, up until now, there have almost always been two new playable characters a month (which means that each months there were two full special events to play, not counting the monthly rerun of past events!), along with less frequent but still regular updates to the main story maps - which, may I recall, also feature a sixth, completely new tale set in the Silver Millennium after the five story arcs from the anime. I don’t know if they’re going to add some last few characters during the next two months, but I’m afraid not. In any case, it’s simply terrifying that A) this freaking mobile game is, or at least was since yesterday, the most active Sailor Moon medium, and that B) with all the potential of the manga’s story, no one has still thought of adapting it into an RPG for the 3DS.
Aaand that’s all to justify my royal rage towards the powers that be! But before going to bed, I feel the need to bring up another point. You know Dragon Ball? It’s a pretty famous series, you must at least heard of it. It’s owned by Shuesha (the manga), Toei Doga (the anime) and Bandai (the videogames) - notice some familiar names? Well, always remember that, in January 2018, a new Dragon Ball film was announced of which no one had ever heard anything before. In December 2018, that film hit Japanese cinemas. Never forget.

Welp, two of my Mermaid Panic posts were flagged for reasons unknown. Unless not even that amount of nudity is tolerated by the staff…
Of course I’ve asked for a human to take a decision on whether those posts conform to the new guidelines or not. If they do, everything will be alright and they’ll just reappear after having been banished into the void; if they don’t, I’ll proceed to repost them censoring the parts that Tumblr deems unsufferable.
Good news everyone: the staff has officially decided that those two posts didn’t in fact go against the guidelines, so now they’re up again for you to see. Yay!

I just wanted to thank all of my readers for keeping this blog going for this month and a half, and I simply can’t believe that I’ve already reached 500 freaking people following this blog - thank you very much! I’ll keep on doing my best just as before, but please remember to download all pictures you’re interested in as soon as possible in case A) Tumblr dies for real or B) my blogs get shut down for reasons unknown.
All in all, Tumblr has been a fun experience, but also an extremely toxic one at the same time, and I’m happy that the staff is finally starting to do something about it. I surely hope the site won’t be shut, but... just in case it does, here are my greetings for you! Thanks again to each one of you!
Last night I had a dream where it was announced that Kazuko Tadano had been fired from the Dream arc Crystal films and @jbaxteranimator had been hired as the character designer in her place. I was all like "yasss my life is complete", but then my dad woke me up to go to university. Sad story, I know.
It’s a good thing that I’ve already queued all of this blog’s posts for the next month or so, because I’m sure that all of my leisure time is going to be completely devoted to Let’s go, Pikachu!.
Does anyone of my readers know of a free theme that allows a blog to be split up into pages? Because it’s getting a bit difficult to navigate with a slow connection, so I think this could be a better colution. Thanks in advance for your kind help!
Since I’ve just started a personal post, I may as well write it right here: I have officially decided that this blog will only block pornbots and other blogs featuring triggering/offensive content. Otherwise, any blog is free to follow, write, answer, interact in any way with me via this side-blog, which is very different from the policy I’ve got with my main account, where I block everyone who claims aoutrights BS and/or writes things that I personally find upsetting and offensive but may not be so to others. I’m writing this because I’ve just discovered that one of my newest followers is a de facto anti-feminist, which is something I can’t normally stand and would block on the spot from my main; but, since she doesn’t post either porn or gore and seems to be a somewhat decent person from what I’ve inferred, I think she’s got the right to follow this blog and message me if she likes Sailor Moon - I mean, it’s her right to love manga even if I strongly disapprove of her political stances, so I’ve figured I shouldn’t deny it to her. After all, this series is a real feminist manifesto through and through, so I hope that, by being a fan, she can come to her senses and start fighting the good fight! ;)
