i like it when i rec aono kun to people and they read it and i watch them go through The Horrors and come out bloodied and shaken and nodding like "yeah it's good. christ", it feels like im handing them a cigarette and we watch together into the sunset with a thousand yard stare
just finished aono-kun volumes 10 and 11 last night. wanted to illustrate my experience of reading the whole series so far. take this as a recommendation!
don’t have a good diagram rn but imagine these guys on the same spectrum at varying opposite ends. from left to right.
i know that Ryuhei and Teppei’s mom was really fucked up to them but there was a brief moment when i thought this flashback was going to culminate in the reveal that she had done something to this guy and if she had i literally would not have held it against her at all
i heard there was a new Aono-kun volume out so i reread the last one as a refresher and i was like "yeah i remember this was all really rough" and then i read the new one which (spoilers) had almost no supernatural elements until the very end and i was like "man can we return to the bleeding eyes and spontaneous puking"
the actual worst part of' i want to hold aono kun so badly i could die' is that its so obvious that they all love eachother deeply
so badly i could die
mermaid's purse
one thing i like about I want to hold aono kun so badly I could die is that the drawing is so simple yet pretty. It's portraying the story in an adequate way. Idk it makes me less scared about the prospect of doing a comic by myself eventually. I have ideas but I'm not really good at drawing...
I know I'm supposed to give it a go anyway but it kinda depresses me not having the basics pinned down. I'll try to keep learning! It's just a bit hard
