So this was my only (of 4) fic rec blog to go down, but after going through the appeal process we seem to be back!

Good Morning darling followers. If you’ve been around for awhile then you know that Fanart Friday is kind of a longstanding tradition. And though I’ve skipped fridays for lack of fanart, there are quite a lot of them here.
But I’m thinking of changing that over to what I currently do on my other fic rec blogs. Over on @tonystevestories for example I simply reblog fanart when I find it. So here’s the breakdown of benefits.
Keeping Fanart Friday: You’ll get 3-5 links back to original posts of fanart. You might get theme days. You’ll see thinks that can’t necessarily be found on Tumblr easily. You’ll have something to look forward to on Fridays.
Switch to reblogging fanart: You’ll get fanart whenever I find it and I’ll probably go back to the beginning and Queue up older stuff immediately. Much easier to reblog since you can reblog directly from the post instead of following a link. You might start finding stuff in the tags (I’ll add a nsfw tag and certain tropes will get tagged so you might get a fanart or two when looking for fic). No more broken links since the reblogs will be right here on this tumblr and name changes and such shouldn’t affect anything.

It is not surprising news that fanfiction writers are highly underappreciated.
There’s something wrong with the numbers: let’s take a popular fic with almost 4k hits. For let’s say 700 readers, it will get about 50 comments and 300 Kudos (those numbers are just an example, sometimes it’s worse than that). Maybe I’m being too kind, maybe not, but things stay the same; there’s something wrong here. Can you see it?
It takes us days, weeks, sometimes months to write a story for you. We write for ourselves yes, but we also write to share. We write to offer you content about your favourite characters. We write to bring our and your ships to life. It takes you a fraction of second to leave a Kudos, ten seconds to one, two or a few minutes to leave a comment.
And here lies our problem: there’s no proper sharing if there’s no proper feedback. An author not getting comments is generally a sad author. If I didn’t get feedback I’d wonder what’s the point in keeping on writing. A comment makes a writer’s day, most of the time even motivates them to write more.
Another important thing thrandythefabulous and I noticed: why on Earth do so many readers don’t comment (even kudos) if the fic has been up for a little more than a week or two? Why? Your feedback is still welcomed and much appreciated.
We write for ourselves, but also we write for you. And sadly, many readers are being quite… ungrateful, when giving feedback is the least they can do to thank the people offering them stories for free.
So, before we get started on our little day, let’s talk about comments:
It doesn’t matter if other readers already said what you wanted to say, we’ll still love reading it again in your words.
It doesn’t matter the fic has been up for weeks or months or years; comments on those ones are unexpected and so, it makes them ever better.
It doesn’t matter if you don’t have much to say, we’ll be glad anyway.
Most authors leave the comment section open to people who don’t have an AO3 account, which means you can still… comment! How amazing is that.
The point of this day is simple; on August 21st, writers and readers alike would go on AO3 (or any fanfiction website really), on Tumblr, and leave a comment on their favourite fics (even the fics they enjoyed!) and/or send their authors a message about their works.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve already or never commented. It doesn’t matter if the author doesn’t know about this post. It doesn’t matter if the author already knows how much you love their work.
Just let writers know you love the fics they write for you, simple as that!
And well, don’t forget to keep leaving a Kudos and a comment in the future, and make writers happy!
I think this is a great idea! Also maybe we could rec our favorite fics on our blogs that day too? Mass sharing!

A proposed addition: even if you don’t typically go on AO3 (or LJ/ff.net/other dedicated fanfic sites), or if (heavens forbid) it’s down that day, you can still participate! Do you read most of your fic on Tumblr? Do you have a particular person you follow whose posts you’re always excited to see because their fic is some of your favorite?
Use this day to reblog some of their work! Likes, like kudos, are excellent and good, but don’t carry nearly the same weight on this site. And while it’s rare (impossible?) to delete an AO3 kudos, many people tend to periodically clean out their Liked posts, meaning even that feedback can actually disappear off of a post. It’s not uncommon for an older piece of Tumblr fic to actually have fewer notes over time because of this.
Reblogs are wonderful. Reblogs are life. Reblogs are a way of saying, “I don’t want to forget this, and I want everyone who follows me to see how great it is as well!” If you’re intimidated by the thought of leaving comments, tags are a great way to sum up the reason you liked something, even if it’s just “adorable” or “what goobers” (both actual tags I’ve gotten before, which made me giggle in delight), or semi-coherent flailing (e.g., “yasssss”, “fdlskajfla”, “hnnngggh”, etc.). Fic writers tag-stalk every bit as much as artists do, I promise, and we love to see your reactions there.
Hey guys. I just want to give you a heads up that I will not take submissions or recommendations for fic that is on Wattpad. I don’t like their setup or their lack of tagging and have no intention of creating an account there and so I cannot read submissions that you send from there. They’re really not designed to handle fanfiction imo.
I will take fic from Ao3, FFN, Livejournal, Dreamwidth, Tumblr, private blogs, and almost anywhere else where you can read without having an account.
So please my darling authors, if you are writing, I highly recommend that you use one of these other platforms to post your fic. Or that you at least post in multiple places. (Ao3 is the obvious favorite here with their comprehensive tagging and it certainly makes your fic easier to find.)

Summer is here again, so it’s time for the 2015 AO3 Ship Stats!
This list shows the 100 most popular relationship tags on the fanworks site Archive Of Our Own. There are 65 M/M pairings, 25 F/M, 4 F/F, 4 Gen, and 2 Other. (Please note that on AO3, ‘Name & Name’ indicates platonic relationships (Gen), while ‘Name/Name’ is used for romantic pairings.)
Of the 200 names on the list, 33 belong to women and 2 to characters of ambiguous gender - up from 29 women this time last year. 24 of the 200 names are POC, while 12 are characters of ambiguous race, up from 11 POC and 14 ambiguous in 2014.

I just want to note that we’re ranked 21st on this list, that’s up 7 spots from last year. How cool is that? There are so many of us and so many people that ship Sabriel. You guys are awesome. <3
Hey guys you may have noticed my sudden spree of answering asks because I suddenly have a bit more time and I’m trying to get through the insane backlog. Unfortunately this means more followers and also BAM more asks to answer. SO I've temporarily shut off anon to slow it down a bit. When I get through the rest of the asks I'll turn it back on again.
I've gotten a few asks as fanmail, please do not do that. They're very hard to read and I can't actually answer them since you can only send fanmail to people you follow and I can’t publish it like an ask.
The new text editor is kind of awful. It's not letting me turn asks into a question anymore which I find really annoying :(. I have replies enables so if you've followed for awhile you can answer via the little talk bubble or send an ask or submit if you know the fic that we're looking for when you see a fic hunt. :/
Hopefully the free time stays and I’m around more. I know it’s been kind of slow lately.
I’ve also updated the tags a bit. And I’ve downloaded the Tumblr app and this is your reminder that it is TERRIBLE for blogs like this. And I highly recommend to you that if you’re hunting for good fic you use your phone or tablet’s browser instead so you can find and use the tags page.

I’ve been getting some submissions lately and I just want to put a few reminders out there.
If you submit your own work, I will not post it until I read it myself, so it may be awhile or, tbh, if it’s related to anything on my nopes list, it will probably just get deleted. So please do yourself a favor and check out what the mod doesn’t read before you submit your own work. I’d hate for anyone to feel ignored.
As it says on the submit page itself you ABSOLUTELY MUST FOLLOW THE FORMAT. This means that as long as it’s not your own work I can just add the extra tags and post it without having to read it. But if you don’t follow the format, I have to wait until I have some free time. And again with the nopes.
There is a limit to the number of tags I can have available for you to check off on the submit page. The Universe tags are Categories. Out of SPN, SPNAU, and AU you only check one.
Clarify about which kind of AU in the additional tags section of the submission format.
You've probably answered this before, but as a fairly new follower, I'd like to know your absolute favourite Sabriel fic/fics? (Of all genres/each genre)
Aww man, this is always the worst question. I can’t say that I really have favorite fics in every genre or even that I have an overall favorite fic. I often read based on my mood and sometimes that means a certain genre or a certain type of fic.
So I’m going to take the lazy way out here and direct you to my Sabriel bookmarks on Ao3, those are the ones I have saved to read on my tablet and that I go back to every once in awhile.

Tumblr has redone how their ignoring/blocking works which is good for people who did not want certain people to find them but maybe not super great for me. The Ignore feature used to just keep a blog from showing up on your dash. The new Blocking update makes them unable to find you or like any of your posts.
Since I’m often in various ship tags and I get really frustrated with people who run ask blogs and spam the tags I tend to just block the whole blog so they don’t show up in the tags for me anymore. So if someone runs an ask blog, I may have ignored the blog over the last year and change or so. I’m not sure if that will affect whether or not you can see my secondary blogs (like this one and my other rec blogs) especially if I blocked a secondary blog of yours (like an ask blog).
So PLEASE If you know anyone who suddenly can’t see this blog, let me know so I can figure out which blog I need to take off the ignore list now that it’s a block list.
I finally got around to updating the taglist so there shouldn't be any missing tags now. :D
A couple reminders: If I add something to one of the Sam/Gabe is... sections I tend to add it to the other as well even if there’s nothing there yet. I also run 3 other fic rec blogs (SamiferStories, Cherikfics, and TonySteveStories for the curious) so when I see a tag pop up frequently in one, sometimes I add it to all the blogs at once. Basically what this means is that sometimes you might click on something and get no results. Def let me know anyway in case my dumb self miswrote a link or something, but I just want to mention it because it’s not unusual.
Also there is, as always, an automatically updating tag cloud that may be easier for you to use that has ALL the tags I’ve ever used.
Also, as you may have noticed I’ve been in and out lately answering things here and posting fic there. Unfortunately I am insanely busy a lot of the time. SO for the newbies and people who haven’t found it yet. THERE IS A CUSTOM SEARCH WOOHOO that will search just this blog. So if you want to see if I’ve recced something before and the tags aren’t cutting it, throw a keyword in there that you remember maybe from a title or my comments and it should pop right up.

It’s been awhile since I added a note to one of these and I have a ton of new followers so I thought I’d go ahead and do it now.
You’ll notice that Fanart Friday is always links back to the original artwork on the creator’s blog or DA or journal or wherever the artist originally posted their work. There are two reasons I decided to do it that way when I started doing these 1. I wanted a new post to show in the tag so people could find my post and 2. so the artist would still get credit and people could go to their blog and reblog directly from them.
I’m seeing A LOT of unsourced or wrongly sourced art in the tag and I suspect that’s because a lot of people don’t know the etiquette with artwork. So I’m going to explain it to you. If an artist posts something on their own tumblr then that is where you should be reblogging from. The artist deserves your love and praise for their artwork directly. Artists are almost always drawing fanart for free or for small commissions and we should all show our appreciation for the wonderful things that are out in fandom.
If the artwork is on a different art site: pixiv or deviantart or patreon or Ao3, then the first thing you should do is check for a link to the artists tumblr. It’s only acceptable to post that art if they absolutely definitely don’t have one and you should link directly back to that page where you found it. WeHeartIt and Pinterest are NEVER EVER VALID SOURCES.
I’ve been in the SPN fandom for a long time and in various fandoms even longer. I’ve seen more than one artist or writer get bitter about fandom because their work is ignored or stolen or someone else takes credit for it. This is one of the ways fandoms lose wonderful creators. Please PLEASE don’t contribute to this and remember to reblog from the source whenever possible.

So I’m going to answer this about the different ships that squick me out. Please take into account that all of this is completely my personal opinion and my personal hang ups and I certainly do not mean anything below as ship-shaming or anything else. Everyone has different experiences and different turn-ons just like everyone has different triggers and squicks. Ship and let ship everyone On that note, you will pretty much never see any of the ships below on this blog even as side pairings unless they’re submitted and end up in the nopes tag or I read them by accident, make it through, and still like the fic a lot.

So... as you may have noticed I'm back. Mostly.
It's half due to the holidays being over and work slowing down a bit and half due to my standing weekly date with a friend rewatching Supernatural (I'm on S3)
SOoooo here's hoping my posting gets more regular than it has been these past few months. I still have some 50 or so messages to get through even after the slew I just posted so... there's probably still a bit of a delay with answering anything.
