Rewatched aotc today. This scene is so fucking gay
hey i hope this isn't a bad time but one billion points lava damage
Man c'mon
Firstly, I would very much like to recommend @secretly-a-trekkie . Kieran is without a doubt my favourite Star Wars artist. Besides his amazing art style (just look at it??), I am in awe with his ability to draw the most funny or adorable blorbo at one moment, and crush us with the most angsty and devastating piece the next. Also mad respect for putting all the symbolism and little Easter eggs into those more complicated pieces!

when i learned jedi kids r raised communally i suddenly understood the anakin | obi wan conflict so much better omg its only child vs kid with like 8 siblings. obi wan is like anakin ur so fckn stupid (smiles fondly) and anakin is like he thinks im stupid 😡
this post seems to have kinda taken off so i thought itd be funny to add that i made this post bc my younger sibling was sitting w me while i watched star wars and i literally looked at them and said christ you are so annoying and then looked back at the screen and obi wan said like. please stop talking out of turn or whatever it was in aotc in the exact same tone of voice avdnmdkkdn
actually now that I think about it it's very funny that obi-wan was using his whole-ass unchanged last name while in hiding after being like, publicly a member of the Jedi council, a high-ranking political and military body, ten fucking years ago. the cashier at the moisture store asks for a name for the order and is like Ben Kenobi? like that old Jedi general? I wonder what he's up to these days and obi-wan nearly outs himself by saying "this"
Mando Waxer and Boil
I mean they are already mandolorian [counts on fingers] adopts kids -
i think about this tweet a lot
Fun fact: Mandalorians touch foreheads when they want to show affection but cant take off their helmets. It’s called a Keldabe kiss. (This is also an ironic term for straight up head butting someone.)
that makes this so much worse:
FYI Jengo Fett’s (Boba’s dad) head is still in that helmet
I know it’s essentially “affectionate head butting” but I’ve always found the concept of the Keldabe Kiss fascinating bc the actors who played Jango and young Boba Fett are Māori and in māori culture they have the hongi which is a traditional greeting of touching noses/foreheads
Like I know it’s probably not that deep but I’ve always wondering if maybe that partly inspired the above moment with Boba
this is why i always powder the fuck out of my forehead before going to a community meeting lol. you end up leaving foundation on 40 elders’ foreheads if u arent prepared lmao
just wanted to add that one of the writers for much of the mandalorian content to come out when Legends was still the Expanded Universe specifically understood the significance of the Fett actors being Māori and the importance of the hongi, and the “Keldabe Kiss” was a way of canonizing that in-universe.
so yes, it is that deep, and it was intentional.
sith afterlife looks a bit different.
every single star wars visions short in BOTH seasons is either "imperialism is bad" or "here is my sith lord OC" and that's exactly what star wars is about which is why star wars visions is the best star war
Rex CANONICALLY acknowledging that Slick perhaps had good intentions regarding his belief and actions that the Jedi were exploiting the clones is so cathartic Rex might not agree with how Slick did things, but he agrees that there needed to be a change and that Slick's actions stopped that before they could start. Rex didn't defend the Jedi, but in agreeing that Slick's heart was in the right place, he acknowledged that something was wrong with the dynamic, and that a change needed to be made in regards to the clones and the Jedi.
I love that.
I feel like faulting the Jedi in the clone's treatment is impossible, especially when it comes to Slick. But seeing Rex actually understand why Slick did what he did, not hating Slick, and acknowledging that his heart was in the right place is a huge "i told you so" to people who swear up and down that there's nothing going on.
Because there is.
Rex acknowledged it. He didn't deny that the Jedi were exploiting his brothers. He knew there needed to be a change and that Slicks heart was in the right place.
Do you know how important this is for me that we got this from Rex's own words??
this is all from secrets of the clone troopers btw
Could the Jedi done anything different? No. (Maybe) (Probably) (This is all Palpatine’s fault I have it)
Is the clone’s treatment in any way acceptable? ABSOLUTELY NOT!
These ideas can and should coexist. The clones needed help. Help the Jedi were trying to give them, but it wasn’t enough. And they deserved better.
I think on a larger scale the Jedi were absolutely powerless without risking another war, but on the smaller scale I think there were certain things that could have been done on their part. Even if it meant speaking to the senate or politicians about clone rights, acknowledging their role in their exploitation, and all together giving the clones a choice as to what they wanted to do. I think towards the beginning of the show we do see the clones treated as canon fodder by specific Jedi, namely Anakin, and it's never exactly criticized by the Jedi Council (same with Krell's high mortality rate). I think it's important that Rex says that in regards to how the Jedi specifically treated the clones, that Slick may've had his heart in the right place, and that there was work that needed to be done with the dynamic. In general I don't think the Jedi had the power to free the clones, but I think they had the ability to criticize and make the clones life's a bit easier.
Image description: it's a drawing of Aayla Secura from Star Wars. She's wearing a reimagined version of her outfit in Star Wars: Republic Issue 72. She's holding he glasses up with one hand, her other hand is in her pocket. She's looking judgementally at the camera. The prompt for her expression was her reacting to her original outfit. End of description.
It's the clones turn to be catified!!! I chose the Burmese breed for a few reasons: its rich dark browns (show me the TAN Disney!!), the stocky and muscular body, the big and roundish face, they have colour variants that make them look blondish (coughRexOmegacough) or silver (coughCrosshaircough) and because it isn't your typical american/european breed (as an extra, it's a really popular breed in New Zealand and Temuera Morrison, the actor that plays Jango and the clones in the movies is from there!).
I also used the dark stripes these cats show on their heads to personalize each clone if the character has any iconic tatto or painted helmet (or scar). Aaannddd talking about scars... those nipped ears are there for a reason! Veteran cat clones tend to have more (unless you'r Hardcase being Hardcase)

Their OC MT, a human in dire need of comfort éuè I really enjoyed figuring the image's composition! With Fox (Learned for the occasion he apparently got a fanon design, I hope I made it justice ^^)
The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together.
A piece of Barriss I did awhile back for the @forgottenchapterszine based off of the Legends MedStar duology!
Airing my Grievances about the Star Wars fandom right now
So a lot people are upset and being rather transphobic about Sister, the transgender clone trooper from 2022 now recently getting official art. I'm just going to make a short post to air my own grievances about the complaints.
"Kaminoans would turn her into protein paste for being defective"
Clone Trooper 99 was defective and was still utilized. He died with honor while fighting alongside his brothers.
"Kaminoans would never use defective clone troopers"
Chances are you never watched the Bad Batch or paid attention to anything outside the pew pews.
"All clones are male"
Omega from Bad Batch
"Clone troopers are all made to be the same and not be distinct"
Literally in the first episode of the Clone Wars series, Yoda points out how despite being clones, each one is unique. This is pre-Disney buyout of Lucasfilm, no excuses here. (0:38 seconds in)
I'm not trans or in the LGBTQ community so take what I say next with a grain of salt (I'm your basic cishet male).
If anything, my only complaint is that I feel the color on her armor is a bit too on the nose. I had a similar problem with The Acolyte with Osha being all "Is he, or they, with us?". Just keep it to the point and natural and ask "Are they with us?"
I just feel the colors are a bit too on the nose are these are earth trans-flag colors (or close to it). While purples and blues are one of my favorite color schemes, why are we using earth-trans colors? Or perhaps a short backstory for the significance of these colors to Sister?
Just keep it in plain sight without having to draw it out. The trans Twi'lek from Book of Boba Fett is a good example.
But yeah if you're misgendering her and referring to her as "it", then you're a pos and can go jump in a Sarlacc pit.
That is my take on the current Star Wars discourse going on. Transphobia sucks and those complaining about this haven't really paid attention to the messages in Star Wars whatsoever.
The amount of comments I've had to delete on TikTok from a video made about the Secrets of the Clone Troopers because of transphobic fans....
Adding to what OP said, here are my two cents from going through comment threads to block people. It might help some on this platform to argue against haters (if you feel like it & have the energy, I'm also a big fan of deleting & blocking).
First of all to everyone who says a trans clone wouldn't be possible because "being trans is genetic, & since clones are copies of Jango who was a cis male, that can't happen" two things:
1) Research suggests genetics play a part in being trans, but it's not conclusive & studies vary in which factors they deem to be "causal" & to what extent, environmental & social factors also play a huge part & there have been cases of identical twins where only one is trans so there's that.
2) Even if it was entirely cause by genetics (which again, we don't know that it is), genetic variation among clones is canon & has been for a while.
OP mentioned the Bad Batch & Omega & I've seen a lot of people use this example too, but haters always respond with the fact that the Batch was made different for a reason. Their mutations weren't spontaneous variations, or if they were, they were purposely enhanced to become an advantage, so they think this why the Batch wasn't reconditioned. And they're not wrong there. BUT...
99 is a great example of a variant clone whose variation wasn't purposeful (that we know) and wasn't reconditioned. But here, the response is that he wasn't deemed fit enough to be a soldier. Fine, let's keep going...
Here are some more examples of canon troopers who fought on the frontlines with spontaneous genetic variations, which either resulted in unique physical traits and more complex neurodiversities:
1) Trap & Edge from Tango company have blue eyes (Brain Invaders episode). Chopper from the 212th has two different colored eyes (from the Enemy Within).
2) Rex & Omega are blond (yes Rex is a natural blonde I have a whole rant about this, but for another time).
And they will say something like "yea but eye color & hair color doesn't affect performance"...they think being trans does, because they're haters so I like point to out that transitioning also wouldn't affect performance. And they will bring up a whole bunch of mental health bs about how it would & to that I say, we also have canon neurodiverse troopers:
3) Hardcase is hyperactive & and according to him, his hyperactivity resulted from a leak in his growth tank. That's faulty equipment leading to neurodiversity in a trooper who not only wasn't reconditioned, he went on to serve with distinction.
4) Tech & Echo both show traits of autism (again I could write a long essay explaining this but that's for another time) & though it's mentioned as a joke, Echo's batch mates attribute his personality to being kept in his growth jar too long. So again, a lapse in growth protocols results in a diverse trooper who not only served, he passed the ARC training program. Echo also has PTSD (actually, they all do "the mission the nightmares...") and he wasn't discharged, he went on to train as a commando with the Batch & kept serving.
Sooooo, neurodiversities & other mental health conditions are well accepted in canon too. 😌 And not just Disney canon toxic fanboys, here's the one that hurts: George Lucas wanted diverse clones.
A Republic Commando developer said they had planned to make all commandos the same, same voice, same tonalities, all white armor etc & George came in & was like no, give them different paint schemes, different personalities & they even had different voices. Tem only voices Boss because George wanted their different personalities to come through the voices. Delta squad was the first example of what George wanted troopers to be like, and he developed that concept working with Filoni on Clone Wars.
Filoni also credits Lucas with insisting on clones having distinguishable traits. They tried to make them different so we could relate to them as humans and make their story poignant. So there you have it, variation is not only possible in-universe it's what the story needed for it to be effective emotionally. And that my friends is canon.
So transphobes/women haters can see themselves out. The decision makes sense both from an outside "we want inclusive media" perspective AND it makes sense in-universe. Haters can go cry about it somewhere else.
