ya'll ever think about luffy wearing a yellow shirt during impel down and marineford because it literally haunts me. his colors switching from red (straw hat captain) to yellow (asl/ace's younger brother) to show that he put his captain duties aside, he's not a captain he's just a brother in that moment. that hurts. (and then when he wakes up from the war and he's not wearing a vest at all because his crew disappeared and ace is dead)

New thought drop, but in an AU where Sabo shows up at marineford to help... Kuma was there too, man. That's like 500x more pain. He goes to save Luffy and Ace knowing he can't help Kuma. Has to just leave him there. That adds so many more layers. Can you imagine how angry he'd get if he heard when Doflamingo say Kuma was basically a dead shell. I'm gutted.

Fuck, imagine Kuma has a fraction of reason in him, to the point where something in him recognizes Sabo and blocks a potentially damaging attack. Cuz Kuma has known him since he was so small and whatever is left of his conscience wants to protect him 🥺🥺🥺🥺

Kuma is ordered to go after Ace and Luffy when Akainu’s attack falters and Sabo moves in front of them with his arms outstretched to shield them and Kuma just freezes with his hand up, or dead stops the laser in his mouth, and just stares, cuz in the depths of his mind the boy in front of him is ten years old and covered in bandages, he recognizes him, this is Sabo, he can't hurt Sabo 🥺

But now it's Ace’s turn to grab Sabo and force him to run, because Sabo is broken at the thought of leaving Kuma to the marines, but he knows he can't save him.

What are you trying to tell us, Odacchi!?! (”musha” can mean “warrior”, by the way… and Corazon was/is definitely a warrior, other than a spy). And even mentioning Ace in the same chapter… I’m dying here.  *faints* Some of my followers don’t know about this yet, but after Marco’s scene a couple of chapters ago I’m pretty sure that Ace is alive. And I won’t have to find complicated ways for him surviving anymore, since basically Marco has regenerative powers (albeit limited on other people–for this reason, I fear Ace might be into a coma). Anyway, do you remember the blanket/coat someone put over Ace’s back at Marineford? I mean that really little panel in page 6 of chapter 576 (sorry for the bad quality):

I knew Oda had a reason for that!  :D If you have the volume including this chapter, you’ll notice that probably a marine put that over Ace’s back–or someone disguised as a marine. It could have been anyone doing that, and Marco wasn’t even trying to heal Ace in that or later chapters, but please keep in mind a few things: - if they had made a previous agreement with Shanks to recover Ace’s body, Marco couldn’t reveal his healing powers on other people in front of the marines, otherwise they probably wouldn’t have let them take Ace’s body away; - the brain doesn’t die immediately, so they had a few minutes to save Ace (especially since Marco’s powers actually regenerates cells); - the only way to save Ace was to have him “die” first, since the World Government would have been constantly after him otherwise. Also interesting is the title of the chapter in which Ace died: “The Death of Portgas D. Ace”. Now, the very last panel of that chapter shows his mother Rouge naming the newborn baby “Gol D. Ace”, and I believe Ace will return in the story with that name. Most of my followers already know these older theories though, so I won’t add anything else for now.
